Post subject: | noob wands question |
I just tried making a sorceror character and found myself completely unable to fight in the 'training area' except barehanded (which is not going all that well). I figured maybe the 'practice wand' you get would, you know, shoot hurty magics at expendable NPCs, but I couldn't figure out what to do with it. I tried reading 'help wands' and 'help zap' and what have you, but nothing I type is working. Am I doing something wrong? Does the practice wand do something else...? |

Follow this syntax: Code: hold wand
zap [training npc] When you run out of hurty-magic wands, type "outfit" and you'll get a new one. Also, train the magic missile spell. Seriously. |

Have you trained the skill wands? You need someone to teach you how to use wands before you'll get any results with them. |

That was the problem all right, Baldric. Thank you for the replies. |

No problem. Welcome to SK. Learning the game can be kind of daunting, but don't hesitate to ask questions on the forums or to ask random people on the who list icly for help if you're having any problems. |

I think I got confused because when you have zero skill in 'wands' typing 'zap' gives you the same 'huh?' message you'd get when typing in a completely invalid command or just garbage text (as opposed to, like, 'You have no idea how a magic wand even works' or 'LRN 2 SHOT WANDS NOOB' or whatever). Anyway, thanks again to you both! |
