Post subject: | New player, couple questions |
Hi, everybody. I'm new to shattered kingdoms but have a little experience in other muds. I've read a lot of the helpfiles as well as some threads on these forums, and made a character. The game seems pretty cool and the couple people I ran into were really helpful and friendly. A special thanks goes to the player of Menkh, who saw me walk out of the newbie area and instantly dropped everything to help equip me and make sure I had no trouble getting started. I have a couple quick questions. First of all, I notice that the game seems to discourage the use of numbers to represent stats, but it seems that this is a skin-deep sort of thing. Is there a link someone could post that would show the numbers behind the words? Attributes come to mind, but I'm sure there are other examples of this that would be helpful for future reference. Second question is, would anybody like to share a couple tips on how to level a sorc? He's a grey aura human. |

Hi! I'm the player of Menkh, I didn't know you were new! Stellar RP from what little I saw. I can't answer the att/stats number question, but others are much more well-versed in this area and I'm sure they can help you - but numerical value is discouraged, as it's thought to take away from the RP atmosphere. My first character was a sorcerer - leveling them can be pretty difficult because they are weak, but it's also a lot easier to get around with detects, shrink, enlarge, enchant, charm. "Area" is a new command/tool they didn't have when I started off - tells you where you can train at a certain levels, then once you know where you should train, you can ask someone to help you, take you there, or give you directions. At first, you should try to have a pet and stay behind them and cast magic missile to level. Sorcerers aren't the easiest to level, but they are far from the worst. Because sorcerers are weak and don't have good armor, it's not a good idea to straight up battle without a pet, except in the newbie zones. |

Also, there are sorcerers like Jaeyd and Ailee who are very helpful and could help you out more IC with training and sorc-specific leveling, if you saw them around. |

Hi there and welcome to SK. A few tips for levelling a sorceror. The FIRST thing you want to do is get a pet. A horse or camel or such will do fine for your first few levels. basically you want to position yourself behind it and be careful and ALWAYS look at NPCs before attacking. If one has a polearm, it won't go well. After that you'll notice things tend to throw things at you..Color spray is your friend. Color spray them til they're blind and then use magic missile. Best of luck! |

Welcome to the game! Player of Ailee here. Not much on the numbers thing myself, but never found it much of a concern. Just know that like you would guess INT and WIS are your prime stats, you'll want to focus on them of course. Mana and Art are also pretty useful, I'd say Art over Mana because you can get armor to boost your Mana, but nothing will boost your Art. And as mentioned, a pet is your best friend. Being tripped, bashed, or having dirt kicked in your face are your worst enemies as a sorcerer. Also, make sure you have read 'help armor' and 'help armor2', I can't stress this enough. If you were outfitted by jenbo (Menkh) you should be fine, but when you change it up make sure you know what to wear! I remember with my first sorcerer I goofed that up all the time, like some 'leather' armors will be leather (light armor) or seude (clothing), for example. Anyway, Ailee will be making appearances pretty soon. Today and more so tomorrow. |
