An obvious newbie to the game asked me a simple question and I just wanted to clarify it, and double check it with some more wiser than I. He asked which race should I play to level the fastest. I told him the the elven race has the most charisma and therefore would give the most xp bonuses. He said which class gets more experience per kill, and I told him that does not matter. It all depends on charisma. To answer the question to all curious newbs, was my answer to his questions correct? I think so, although I could be wrong. Does anyone have a different opinion? |

This isn't a direct quote of grep, but I remember him saying something along these lines: An area's familiarity increases with how much experience you gain. With high charisma, you gain experience really really REALLY fast, but the familiarity will yellow out that much faster too, slowing down your experience gain greatly. Low charisma characters stay in the green and blue longer, so they gain a more steady, but lower experience amount. In the end, it seems that no matter what level of charisma you have, it takes about the same amount of time. @grep: sorry if I messed it up, and please correct me if I did. @newbie: elves suck. |

Well, it's a mixed bag, really. Yes, higher charisma does mean you gain more experience, but it also means the experience bonus for familiarity goes away quicker. As far as which classes level fastest, I believe it's the more damage you do with an attack, the higher the experience, and magic gets a bonus to overall experience earned. Soooo, yeah. To sum it up, having higher charisma will help you level faster, if you keep switching up where you're training so you don't get too familiar with an area. As far as the second question, your view may vary, but I've always found myself levelling faster with mage classes(or, easier, I should say). Hope that helps. |

Grep didn't learn it first! She...she didn't learn it first! (note: I do not care how much Grep says she's a guy. She refers to herself as a manly man, and that's feminine enough for me!) |

Might also want to mention alignments, your newbie might not realize that s/he will gain a bonus for opposite and a penalty for the same, or is it that you just don't get a bonus at all for it? Not sure. But really after you take that into consideration it's just a matter of being able to find the places to level with lots of opposite align'd NPCs. Seems like grey auras kinda get shafted in that way, but it's not like you can't still level them up real fast if you keep at it. Groups also gives bonus xp, good to know if s/he doesn't already. Oh.. and charisma mods won't help you, just natural charisma. |

I'm pretty sure gray on gray is not a penalty, but it's not a bonus either, and gray on light or dark is only half the bonus of light on dark. At least, that's how I was lead to believe it works. |

There is no right answer. Leveling quickly comes with practice. Any combination has the opportunity to level rapidly. I used to take hundreds of hours to get to GM, now it takes me just over a hundred on most characters. Charisma does make some difference, especially when there's enough areas to move around freely or other characters enough to get the most out of familiarity. |

Characters with naturally high charisma level faster than characters with low charisma. Races with longer life spans level more slowly than races with shorter life spans. That whole thing Rodwen said was pretty useless. |
