Or other colors in SK? Orange seems like an oversight though.

I almost made up an anonymous name to ask this dumb question.

There is no orange color in MU code, afaik.

A better chart found at:

Not all clients support it, but if you have a client that does, you can certainly substitute in colours as you want.

If the Dulrik were to implement this, then it really wouldn't be too much of an issue for older clients as the client will pick a close ANSI value to use. So instead of seeing orange that the mud wants to display, it will pick red.

It adds a surprisingly large amount of overhead to packets, especially on color-detailed equipment.

I like the xterm color system and wouldn't mind seeing it used, but the question is whether it's necessary or not!

Likely has to do with how much information is sent out over the interwebs. SK was started in 96, no idea when colors where introduced, but broadband internet was not the norm back then. In the late 90s ISPs were mostly dial-up, and we were limited to 56k modems (there was a time I cheered at getting over 5.5k/s downloads) which were really slow. I'd probably shoot myself in the face if I had to use a 56k again.

I think I played on dial-up until around 2004 when Time Warner actually started building infrastructure for cable broadband interwebs in my area. It was still sort of [REDACTED] though, and for the first year I pretty much got free cable internet because the company kept giving me a month's service free of charge until I moved. Anyway!

This is just a data problem, I think. Probably not an issue these days.

Because it doesn't rhyme with anything.
