That really did HURT! You lose your concentration on bless. You feel less righteous. You lose your concentration on armor. You feel less protected. Your chest is ripped apart from massive damage! A large spark from A dark-hair male dwarf kills you. You have been KILLED!! So, I'm standing in Teron, figuring out a good title, when a total stranger arrives and, without a word, without even looking at me, kills me. I mean, I understand deep elves aren't the most popular of characters, but killing a novice merely on the basis of their race seems somewhat over-the-top to me, especially without any vague attempt at RP. Naturally, the last thing I see as Death comes to claim me is someone looting my corpse. Quote: [HP: 27%] [ME: 18%] [PE:100%]

I wouldn't say it's common, but it does, regrettably, occur. I'd report the incident to a darkie online. That's the best way to get vengeance- tell the other side who killed you and where, and hopefully things will solve themselves. Besides, lighties got screwed over yesterday, so they're all in a bad mood and probably a bit more eager then usual to kill people without checking. I'm not just bashing lighties- both sides do it whenever they've just lost a battle. helps recover their pride, or something. *shrug* P.S. Never stand still in Teron. |

Do not listen to anyone. This is part of the game. Yes it does happen more often than not. Expect every time that you log on to be killed for no apparent reason. |

Yes, this does happen. Report it to a strong darky and they'll be more then happy to go and kill some people. The really sad thing is I recognized one of the players as a groupie to someone who killed me. I came back, totally withouth anything, to RP, and was killed again. So, you aren't the first. *off Adders PS* P.S.S. Never stand still period unless in a remote location. Just like a shoot 'em up game. You stand still, your dead. sleeper |

What irritates me more than being killed is the perfunctory nature of the killing - enter room, kill character, leave. No attempt at RP whatsoever. Hell, even the Darkies who are constantly raiding Exile at the moment show more respect than that. Just yesterday a pack of them ran across my lowbie sprite. They all looked at him, and one of them raised an eyebrow in no uncertain fashion. Naturally, he fled. In my opinion, killing a character without RP is the worst behaviour you can exhibit on a MUD, and is worth the docking of XP much like any other poor-RP offense. |

Agreed. Unfortunately, it happens on both sides. While there are some lighties and darkies that do RP with PK, most don't. Edit: Fixed a couple minor mistakes. sleeper |

That's a rather pessimistic view. I've had plenty of my share of random deaths, and have even killed randomly quite a few times by accident (HINT: PICK UNIQUE ADJECTIVES. looking like everyone else comes with bad side effects, too. no more synonyms for thin, or flexible, or pale. most of my mistakes come from same adj and similar race [helf/human, helf/elf] or similar adj [silver-eyed sprite/silver-winged sprite]), but in general it's frowned upon and avoided when possible. Minimize oppurtunities for this to occur at all, and when it does, get even. |

I have always picked uncommon adjective but that is not enough. Everytime that I have ever been killed by another pc it has been random and there was NO rp behind it. So I am just leting this new player know that this [REDACTED] does happen. Now maybe I am just a coincidence that this has happen to me. But the idea around random killing happens more than you would like to admit. |

Very few are actually "random", per se. They either confused u with an enemy, thought you were someone else, saw you wearing opposite aura/country eq/religious symbol, or saw you using a spell belonging only to an opposing class. Some are just done by location- for instance, killing everyone in exile under the assumption that they're taslamarans. I've never been in a gruop when the people were like hey LET'S ATTACK THAT GUY that none of us know or have ever seen before. |

Your post confirms all that I have just said. Now adays you have to get the jump on people in pk so you have to be the first one to attack. Many ( not all) attack first then ask questions latter. I am saying that this should not be the way it is but it is. So until this mud shifts from being pk crazy then there will always be lots of random killing. |
