I know the subject of junk-looting has been discussed to death over the years, but I haven't read it all.

There are lots of disagreements about whether you should loot the corpse and junk whats left after slaying an enemy and issues of OOC respect are brought up, but what about when you DIDNT kill them?

You stumble upon a group of dead people who you've never fought with while they were alive (and you know them) and decide to destroy the bodies, take their flasks and destroy everything else?

I guess this is my OOC vent since none of them will respond to my guy IC.

Didn't lose anything good since he is only lvl 39, but it's just weak play imo.

Depends who I play, moderated to a point by a little OOC consideration. And who the deceased is. I've played any number of characters that might be tempted to cherry pick, even whilst the corpse is still cooling. Others that would leave well alone until the corpse decayed when at which point they'd then consider it open house.

And others still that wouldn't dream of such theft. Under any circumstances.

There have been some characters that I've come across in the past that I wouldn't hestiate to junk loot at any opporunity, regardless of how that opporutunity came about.

As for how others might behave? Bottom line is that none of us own anything that we're not at that point carry upon ourselves, and once dead you're somewhat pushed to carry anything at all. You can, by all means, vent OOC if you've been unfortunate enough to have your corpse robbed or junked by people not directly associated with your most recent demise, but I don't think you have any solid grounds for OOC complaint.

Junk looting is an ooc act mostly. Your foe just KILLED you and you worry about your plate mail? Although I recall looting only once I would never junk/loot, there is no point in my opinion. Some players suggested lag implementations to the junk command and although it would make sense I do not think it would add to the game.

How is it an OOC action?

I would say that taking armor from someone is WAY less of a moral qualm than killing them. I mean, seriously. I favor the destruction of equipment in most cases because it stops them from take all corpse and trying to kill you again.

There are cases where this is exempt, such as an honorable duel or jumping someone 4+ on 1. But, if the person attacks you, and you kill them (not stun), I'd say there's an ooc action stopping you from stopping them IC from another murder attempt.

It is a personal opinion. You know that finding life is too easy but finding new armor will apparently take you more time. Some people (the majority of the player base) value gear more than their life (something that does not make sense if you think about it) thus making a junk look an act to ooc aggravate or anger your opponent.

the jloot as self defense to prevent another attack is, as we all know, [REDACTED]. If the char just killed is equipment dependent(fighter class) then can walk to nerina and get fully armored up in minutes then head to teron for a weapon. Besides that, you just killed them which means not only are you able to pk them (so why would you fail next time UNLESS you jloot them?) but they will also be sd'd. If they are not an equipment based class(s0rc) then it really doesn't matter because they can grab a pet and find you... and die again probably, having been beaten once and this time while sd'd.

QQ about jloot all you want, it wont change.
But dont try to justify jlooting as anything other than [REDACTED] in your fellow player's shoes.

PS: If not jlooting is slightly more ooc action (which as I just said it really isnt, but if you still dont believe me...) than jlooting, sofa king what? Giving an ooc nod to another player after killing them by not jlooting is not a crime, its showing a bit of player respect.... It's a game.

Speaking as somebody who has spent a lot of time being dead, being dead is no fun. It is not always easy to get back to life. It is almost always embarrassing to have to relate the stupidity that got you (er... me, rather) killed. Maybe in terms of realism it is too easy, but death is and should be bad.

If a nasty guy would kill you, why wouldn't he destroy your stuff? He has gone out of his way to be mean to you. Killing is much worse than theft or destruction of personal property. A noble character trying to punish an evil one and make him change his ways might not destroy the stuff, but I would think an evil one would as a rule.

Ummm, but you evil guys out there don't have to take me seriously. In fact, forget I said anything.

Amusing and saddening. Enough for a lot of evil characters to just not give two figs. If my current character finds a body, he WILL field-strip it. To what degree depends on how much effort he has to go through to find something of worth. Then he'll dump it in the nearest body of water.
