The way I picture the envisioned purpose of each of the warrior classes is this, barbarians are the brute force, mercenaries are the tacticians, group commanders and able to target basically who they want in a group - finding chinks, etc.

The swashie, however, is the one of the three who is adept at fighting spell casters and tanking. Taunt should be focused on -disrupting concentration-, not keeping people in combat. Perhaps, taunt should not only lower your intelligence by a said amount, but also lower your racial maximum by a correspondant amount. That would make their emphasis towards casters greater, and we could rid the world of this stupid stay-put-taunt.
