I named my pet with the first five letters of my adjective (which is over seven letters itself) the other day, and tossed in a random letter at the end. Then I went and sat in Nerina and Teron and Exile for a bit just to watch. One guy looked at me FOUR TIMES before he was finally able to target me instead of my horse.
That = lazy.
How about the PKer who names his pet in the same fashion, and instead of getting petrified, his pet does? That's three combat rounds that can change the entire tide of battle.
It's not them being lazy, it's that not everyone in the world can type infintely fast with no mistakes. If I want to target a charismatic half-elf in PK, I'm going to backstab char, because if I try to type out the entire adjective, I'll get attacked first and there goes my opening. If they named their pet charia, then yes, they're breaking the rules, and given themselves an -extremely- unfair advantage in PK, because not only have I missed them by no fault of mine, but I'm also lagged for two extra combat rounds.
I've heard the "They're just too lazy" argument WAY too many times. Don't tell me you always type out the entire adjective of every single NPC/character/pc/item that you look at, because unless you do, that must mean you're lazy.
In short, thank you to Dulrik for making this a known offense.
