My soul dies a little bit more every time you say this.

I think the length people keep characters has been fine. A lot of people stick with long lived characters because not only does it get them respect OOCly, but it does make a difference roleplaywise in game. I have seem many examples of this.

As for people who do not bother keeping characters long, that is good too. Someone mentioned the relatively small playerbase. The turnover rate has been doing pretty well, so that even "leet" players have new characters to constantly stir things up. Imagine how boring things would get if everybody kept their characters to age death? That would severely disrupt the light/dark dominance pendulum.

"Dominance pendulum" in that context makes me think of Stockholm syndrome. Boo.

I personally would like to see skills that are only accessible to aged chars. I don't know yet, what those might be, but that would help a lot. To keep players from making chars and putting them in storage until they age. Have an hour requirement also. Such that only active aged chars can get these leet skills/spell/songs/etc.

Sounds interesting but still impractical. It just means that powerlevellers will roll 3 characters at the same time and keep two of them at 1st level while they age. Then when they reach middle or old age, they will twink them out as if they were a fresh character and have the hours too.

Let's say you require 10hrs/wk average at first age tick, to get first power. Then the you must continue to hold the average for you to get the other powers.

Note, those are arbitrary hour reqs. and I don't know if those would be truly considered active chars.

[edit] using my arbitrary formula, a human would need 370 hrs at the first age tick to get the power and the number of hours would only increase.
