Differences in opinion, I suppose? In my opinion the 'good' leaders usually already have a lot on their hands. They are most likely paragons, religion leaders, and faction leaders -- the holy trinity of SK.

I have also found that allowing all members to see faction balance, as well as a deposit log has a positive psychological effect on its members. People see others do it, and their names goes up, so they are 'encouraged' to do it too. A few similar ideas from the Halls of Fame.

Conversely, what happens when a warring faction's leader logs on every other day, and discovers that account is low, but few or no other members are around? They usually have to go top up the account themselves.

Not when you got leaders that are active and yell at you to put money in the account all the time.

Divalni was a [REDACTED] about that. Takin people to do quests so he could steal their obsidians and everything. Then again I guess MC has a high upkeep.

I love this idea. Its important for members to contribute to the upkeep of their cabal. Membership dues are something we do in irl, why can't this be transmitted into the game? If want the perks of a cabal (new skills/spells, a cool headquarters (minus hammers, what a terribly boring design)), then you should work for it!

Don't cry about RP, thats the chicken's way out to this argument.

I expect many of you will now cry rp. That is why I'm just going to go "Minority Report" and declare you all Chicken.

How do you account for outsiders donating?

I personally find this [REDACTED], shouldn't you get paid for joining a Tribunal and not the other way around? It's not like cops pay a yearly fee to be a cop. :o

Seconded, and the mud I played previously to SKs (some time ago now) had exactly that system - depending on your rank in the cabal (there were ten) you would be paid a certain amount of money each week.

Of course, money was [REDACTED] hard to get in that game as it was RP only, with highly, highly, highly limited PK, and your wage was pretty much the only way to get cash.

If you'll ever believe that I played such a game.

Sounds a little more like a MUSH.

On topic.

Are you people seriously once again bitching about realism in SK? Jardek, didn't you *just* last week mock someone for that?

Yeah, in SK you have to pay for the dubious priviledge of being a cop. Thing is, a lot of people don't. It usually works out to a couple of people paying for everyone to be a cop. If this idea could publicly humiliate the other trib/cabal members into actually contributing instead of just being a drain on fairly expensive resources, well hey, I'm all for it. I doubt that will happen, though.

Personally I think it would be nice if people had the personal responsbility to just contribute and pay for themselves in the first place, but I guess sometimes you take what you can get.

I think it would be better for cabal/tribunal members to be able to check the ammount of cash their organization's account holds, but no further info about it.

If you don't think your co-members contributed enough, ask your leaders. If your leaders lie to you, you're basically screwed, but thats life.

you know, I always found it funny how people always pay more attention to silly comments when they're in fine print, while they generally ignore same silly comment in normal size print.

Nothing about this idea suggests compulsory contribution. Leaders can already coerce members of factions to do this. I was going along the lines of "Good deeds are remembered, and appreciated." approach. Like the Hall of Fame. A member contributes a few obsidians, members see it, and they want to contribute a few too.

There is currently no way for members to check balance, nor knowing amount to input. I can however see certain players' unwillingness to support this idea because it strips certain secrecy and potential power from the leaders. Also the player who stay in factions for a week then move onto the next.
