What about tailors who are themselves centaurs or who live and work in centaur villages? Certainly they would know.

The equipment exists, but I am not promising to make it common. Centaurs now have more equipment slots than any other race. Centaurs also survived prior to barding. There's no need to make this an automatic acquisition. As it is, I'm sure you will see more in the game soon.
