I vote No. As horribly annoying dirt kick is while leveling, the duration is pretty good now. Just sleep or something when you're leveling and you get kicked, or try to disable the NPC somehow.

Make rinsing cause a bit of lag in between and only if your ENTIRE GROUP is not currently in combat.

This would hurt every dirt kicking class (rogues especially) in single pvp. Heck, even 2-3 man pvp.

I knew I forgot something! :P Yes, you could only rinse out your eyes if your group was out of combat.

Kalen - how so? As long as battle's still going, you can't get the dirt out of your eyes. AND you'd need a container filled with water in your inventory, or have ready access to water, so a flee/rinse still isn't a guarantee. Granted, I'm not much into the pvp scene, but I'm not understanding how this would be a detriment.

he is talking about the rogue tactic of. Dirt-flee-backstab-flee-backstab . . .thingy. Since, we are talking about stopping useless wastes of time while grinding. Then make it so that rinse can only work if the thing that dirted you is a NPC.

One of the biggest problems in leveling is this:

xxx kicks dirt at you.

You're blinded by the dirt in your eyes.

You wipe the dirt from your eyes

xxx kicks dirt at you.

You're blinded by the dirt in your eyes.

Wash, rinse, repeat. This idea would be great except for the proposal of having to wait until you were out of combat. With the amount of NPCs that spam dirt kick you would still have the problem of being blind in the entire fight. It renders casters of any type who have to be front row for whatever reasons (no tank, missing a reaching weapon, pet dies really fast) unable to do anything of use. Yes I realize there are ways around this however if you're against some of the NPCs that also like to spam bash when you're not getting blinded you're still boned.

I think the problem would be more easily solved if dirt kick didn't land every single time, even against characters with maxed dex. This way it wouldn't affect other PCs and it would make leveling life just a tiny bit more tolerable. At the rate it is now, any NPC that can dirt kick, will and does such a fantastic job of it, that you end up wasting whatever time you were going to use going to explore for xxx or yyy waiting for your eyes to clear.

If you're leveling as a caster in the front row, being blinded has extremely little influence on your combat effectiveness, since if you cast an offensive spell without a target, it automatically targets your melee target.

If you're really having trouble getting dirt kicked while leveling (And I think paladin would be one of the most affected by this, next to early-level scouts and mercs), then keep the NPC tripped, bashed, or dirt kicked himself (NPCs don't use offensive abilities while blind) via your own skills or a pet. If your PE gets low, you hold off on those skills, and end up dirt kicked, then take advantage of the recent instant-sleep change and snag a quick nap for a tick, and by then the dirt should be nearly gone. Dirt kick really shouldn't be impeding you -that- much.

I have to say that I don't have a problem with dirt kick when I'm leveling a caster because I always have a bashing pet with me. The main time I have a problem with it is while leveling a low level fighter who doesn't have the PE to bash/trip every fight. So I've been getting a pet even for my fighters, which I wish I didn't have to do.
