Alright, so I found a crossbow today with my scout, decided to try it out. Comparing it to bows, it seems crossbows have good damage and accuracy but are generally slower..Also..You can't ambush with them.

So this raised the legitimate question: Why would any scout use a crossbow? I mean, even if they do deal more damage, ambush does more damage with a longbow and both are projectile attacks, so what's the difference?

Just curious. Thank you for the feedback in advance.

They generally don't, and I can't think of a reason that they would.

Thanks Ilk, but another question. Do you guys think ambushing with crossbows would be overpowered or is it something that the class actually needs? I heard once upon a time, scouts actually have knowledge of staves, but this was before my time in the game and it was nerfed. Is the class underpowered in the end game? I've seen a few people complain about that. Arrows vs things like addy armor and such and low damage. Just curious as I've never played one until now.

That was a beautiful time for scouts.

Scouts with stave and with pets that could tame other pets. It was interesting.

No, scouts should NOT be able to ambush with crossbows. The last thing sk needs is scouts running around with siege crossbows 24/7. Crossbows(especially siege) tends to have a bit more punch than bows, so it's a bit of a pick and choose. Crossbows, more damage but no ambush? Or bows, slightly less damage but ambush? Scouts do need some kind of love to make up for all that they've lost - but this just isn't it.

Oh look, you've answered your own question about why scouts might want to consider using crossbows.

Crossbow ambush would be far too overpowering. Insta death for any cloth classes and some low hp light armor classes.

Besides, all you have to do is get a longbow with like 8 arrows. Make an alias to switch to your siege bow. Ambush the person, hit your alias and switch to siege and wah lah, best of both worlds.

Do I have to do all the thinking around here?

And staves with uber pets was great. One scout could wipe out cities. I had so much fun doing it. Destrivai did as well.
