Am I the only person that doesn't rush straight to Kytar for the trainers?

What's so special about Kytar?

While some areas provide better armor or exp Kytar provides the best amateur only trainers.

To drag this thread back on-topic:

I see an advantage of tracking mentors a bit more closely along the following lines:

a) Newbie calls for a mentor / logs in as 'new to SK'

b) If there's someone online who is a 'simple match', then the mentor can acknowledge the call and go help.

c) If there's no simple matches, the search is expanded - this could allow for alignment similarities, allied or at most neutral kingdoms, kindred classes, etc.

d) this 'closest match' mentor can also acknowledge the call and go help; if no-one responds or no match is found, the newbie should be told as much 'There's no-one nearby to help you just now. Try using TELL.'

e) when anyone logs on, if a newbie is still online that had a no-match or no-response mentor and the person logging on would be a direct- or closest- match mentor, they receive the message at login.

f) this belated mentor can acknowledge the call and go help, removing the flag on the newbie.

Yes, I'm Satan.

My main issue here is newbies not getting help, especially if it's because I signed on seconds after they entered "mentor."

Anything that makes it easier for newbies to contact mentors or vice versa is what I'd like to see implemented into the game.

If absolutely nothing else, use the who command and then send a tell to someone and start a dialogue. They'll often help you or start pointing you in the direction of someone who can.

Also - here's something I'd appreciate seeing with the mentor command - when you log in and are mentor level up, I'd love a one liner that would tell me that I've my mentor command toggled off. Once in awhile I'm in the middle of some significant RP and I hit it off.. only to remember to flip it back on days later, to my own irritation. Even if it's simply 'You quit being a mentor.' that would remind me to toggle it on at connection.

Thanks.

Or make it a nosave setting, so it's always on when you connect? Or takes a parameter that allows you to set it nosave / off-just-for-this-session kinda thing...
