Used to be you could get symbols from NPCs. The argument is that it should require interaction to get symbols, even if that interaction is as simple as "Hey, I needz new symbolz, kay?/ Kay, here u goes."

And that sort of interaction is worth saving? Really, how cool is the RP to get a new symbol? You send a tell to the HP and they give you a symbol. The argument that we would be losing RP if NPCs could create symbols for us is [REDACTED].

I'm inclined to agree, but I really don't think that particular issue will change any time soon, or even ever.

You've never played in a death faith then. As a non-priest who usually ends up in dead faiths it's a pain to get a symbol after the Imm who inducts you gives you one. Just a suggestion.

Symbols should never be used as a key or be required for any reason. They are intended to be a minor religious benefit, not anything essential. You will never see them given out by a NPC. If you see any of these things, it should be reported as a bug.

Um, all the sacred suits require a symbol to unlock either the door they're behind or the chest they're in. That's been standard for like ever.

Not to mention, that nearly every faith has at least one altar that can only be unlocked with their symbol, and that has been that way for almost as long as I have played the game.

This is true for Sargas' armor last I remember. Nashira's armor does not require a symbol anymore. Or it didn't when I checked last month.

There are many places that have doors that can not be unlocked without a symbol.

It's possible that I did permit the symbol to be used as a key for purposes of the sacred armor quests, although I'm reconsidering the wisdom of that at this point. But it should not be used as a key for any other reason. Bug log any instances of this that are not specifically for sacred armor.

Bug log every altar, container or door that can ONLY be opened with a symbol, that does NOT normally contain/spawn sacred equipment.
