Inquiring minds want to know if we're wasting enchantments!

Our inquiring minds are still inquiring!

Dulrik, would you be willing to confirm/deny where AP on shields matters at all? I'm not looking for anything in terms of how it might protect, just wondering if I'm actually putting totally worthless enchantments on my shields.

The only way you could really test it out is to try to measure your block rate with the same exact shield, one being empty, and the other enchanted with the largest amount of AP. I'm not entirely sure whether or not it still works this way, but I read somewhere that higher AP shields grant a greater block chance. For now, the safest thing to do would be to just enchant MP until you get more of a definitive answer on whether or not enchanting for AP helps.

AP doesn't do anything for your block rate and never has. AP on a shield does reduce the damage you take whenever you are hit in an area that a shield can help defend.

Quote:
[Skills help] shield block

Automatic

Shield block allows one skilled in it to attempt to block any physical
attack with their shield. Of course, said player must be wearing a shield
to perform this maneuver. It should be noted that even without this skill
a person who wields a shield will be better protected from damage.
Be
aware that you need to be using a shield of the same size as yourself.

Guess that answers that, then. So, basically a shield is extra AP for...head, chest, abdomen?
