I'd bet good money that he had RE up, and potentially protection/sanc. Sticky magma one-shots casters without buffs.
That's what I'm thinking..But it seems like buffs would mitigate the damage from the following harm spells as well.
[HP: 85%] [ME: 51%] [PE:100%]

xxx utters the words, 'pabraw'.
You yell 'Guards! xxx is trying to murder me!'
You moan and vomit as xxx's spell causes your organs to twist!
That really did HURT!

later in the log. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but magma is supposed to ignore MR and..MP as well isn't it? Or am I mistake on the MP part? Considering the character told me with shield and enchants he has around 55 MP..Why does harm do so much more damage than magma? Granted, don't get me wrong. Magma is insanely deadly when it clings, but Harm seems to be better suited against people with enchants as it seems like MP doesn't mitigate it as much as it does every other warlock spell. Case in point the Gnome in question taking 3-6% from full fireball hits followed by a 20% magma and a 32 and 33% harm.
I'm not trying to whine, I'm legitimately trying to understand it, because it seems to me there is absolutely no point to cast any spell unless it's a one shot spell. Once a person is buffed, unless you have dispel or something that you know can one shot them such as petrification or FoD vs elves etc, it seems like you never have enough time to cast to take them down, especially when you're fighting someone who can recite or spam cast it at you while soaking up your damage.
