Since the plan is to merge stuff down to reduce the spread of players, I propose the following, as far as religions are concerned.
Instead of cutting off some religions in a similar way we're cutting off certain cities, we might instead band up certain religions together in 'coalitions' of sort, and allow leaders of these faiths the ability to invest/tarnish/absolve other people in that same coalition. Every religion should have at least one leader of its own, but two of those, selected by some voting system every few IC years by all HFs in the coalition, would be able to 'lead' the 'unified' flock. Might also help to get a religion channel like cb/tb going (Yay more xchan talking) and let all followers of the coalition see other followers in the same coallition's tags [NAT] [YED] etc.

Aludr-Meissa (ie: thefluffyclub. couldnt resist!)
Nashira-Yed-Sadal (this actually sounds like a lovecraftian monster)
Mira-Achernar-Marfik
Algorab-Sargas-Ain
'I Hate The World' EvilEmoGodClub (Sadr-Dabi)
