I went ahead and scanned through dozens of posts before asking this. The armor spell is listed as:

Affect: 'armor' - deflection bonus to probability to dodge

I completely understand that. My question: Does this spell have any beneficial affects to priests? Specifically, does this spell apply a bonus to chance to dodge, or a penalty for attackers chance to hit?

Priests are the only class that does not have the dodge skill.

You're reading it wrong, actually. You know when someone attacks you, and the blow is deflected off of your armor? The armor spell improves the chances of that occurring.

Or, put more constructively: you do not need the dodge skill in order to pass your dodge check... or to have it modified, either.

...Say what?

I was pretty sure the armor spell is what causes the spam of 'XXX misses you' messages that you get.

Wish I knew what AC was, but the help file itself says it raises the *deflection* bonus to probability to dodge, which means it increases the chances of "X attack is deflected by Y piece of armor." The difference, though, isn't really noticable unless you're fighting a NPC. (the deflection difference, the spell still reduces the amount of damage you take)

(please note that deflection is pointed out because it's the important point, not because I'm being a jerk)

There are a few things that can happen to resolve a melee attack. It can:
* Miss
* Be shield blocked
* Be parried
* Be deflected
* Connect

The armor spell (the effects of curse, blindness, skill of the attacker with the weapon they're using, whether they're using a wrong-sized weapon, etc.) seems to me to affect only the chance of an attacker "missing" and have nothing to do with deflection. I think it's just poorly labeled.

Deflection seems to happen when the attacker would have otherwise connected by all other rolls, but ends up doing no damage (because of the protective value of the armor plus any magical protection).

My two cents.
