Would it be possible to alter the code of griffons such that they enter the realms on their feet and not in the air, flying?

It's not a massive issue, but one that interferes with my RP quite often. There are places that I don't fly around and the first thing I do whenever I log in is land ... which gets tiresome.

It's not like griffons can sleep in the air, so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for them to start off flying. Sprites, however, should be left alone since it just seems to make sense for them to be perpetually flying.

Don't really like the idea. Logging in flying could have its benefits, could even save you.

And it only takes...1/2 a second after logging in to land.

That'd be hard on players who have to do a quick logout where flight is important - say over a city.

I see the RP appeal of keeping your own flying/nonflying state, but that's what the feature would need to do. And that feature sounds like more coding trouble that it's worth.

I know for a fact that this has been brought up before. Not likely, sorry.

I agree. This really isn't worth the effort of making the change. It's not to much to expect players to type land. Remember also your character isn't asleep all the time he is logged out. He is presumed to be living his normal life but out of sight of the general populace. Like a merc logged out for say three days irl would still be living his life but he would be polishing his armor, sharpening his weapons, maybe practicing his craft a bit, visiting relatives, doing normal things for three game months until he is logged in again. That's why your characters age weather or not you log in.

So for you to say that your character can't be flying because he is asleep is kind of a flawed arguement. If you did say that I mean. I first read this about four days ago but didn't feel like responding, now I do. I hope I remember what you said I didn't feel like reading it again.

This statement here is what inspired my you are not asleep schpeel in my post. I checked the orginal post when I realized I didn't know what you posted other then griffons should be allowed to log in landed.

It's not that I only ever RP that my character sleeps when I log off, just that when I have to log off temporarily (pesky RL things like telephone calls!) I'll often use a nap as my exit reason ... and logging back in to a group of players ... wanting to RP waking up ... but having to land first when I logged out landed is irritating. I guess I should have said I wanted to log back in with the same state as I logged off with.

It's not a big issue as I said from the start, but if everyone agreed and it was just one line of code to change. Nevermind. I have other ideas.

+1

I HATE HATE HATE seeing "xxxxxx has left the realms" and "xxxxxx has entered the realms". It seems that every character has powers and abilities that are more powerful than even the greatest mage. A mage can only pass into the ethereal plain but anyone can enter or exit the realms of existence.

Okay, noted. Didn't realise people felt this way. It'll not happen again.
