Seance

Seance is a spell meant to be used as a tool for role play. Casting this spell upon an unwilling target for anything other than a specific role play purpose is in poor form. You should remain in the same room with the subject and be in continuous role play with them while you hold them in the mortal plane. You should not maintain the spell simply to keep the subject from returning to the river and being brought back to life while you go about your own business. Please see HELP RULES, #1.

Violators of this will suffer penalties to be determined by the IMM staff.

I have a suggestion about this. You could update the seance help file to mention this, or you could go one step further and make an auto seance option so that only willing spirits can be brought forth.

Or, as you stated, you should remain in the room with the seanced being, so, upon room exit, release the seance. This way, if you want to keep someone seanced, you have to listen to their babble.
