Just don't try to stroke your chin *at* someone...

You end up with your hand on their thigh. :roll:

X ponders your/name/his/her/its question.
(when directed at someone)

X looks thoughtful.
(when alone)

Those seem very suiting.

Anyone agree?

The message one sees when you ponder <target> is VERY much ok, only problem is when you simply ponder the question. Just have something without SIT in it, so something like what you propose for THAT part sounds fine to me.

You stroke your chin in deep thought.

And also there is the beard social, for PCs with beards to stroke :P

Yes just don't try and stroke your chin over what someone else said. Ie:
stroke <player> comes out completely different. THAT is what really should be changed. *MUTTERS*

Ponder. Instead of 'X sits down and thinks deeply', truncate it to 'X thinks deeply.' Or just rip off the personal echo and make it the room echo, for 'X ponders the question.' I can't get out of the habit of typing 'ponder', myself, even when I'm on a horse or somewhere else utterly impossible.

You fold your arms across your chest and go over the situation in your mind.
Garren folds his arms across his chest, pondering the situation.

You fold your arms across your chest, carefully considering Ingefreith's statement.

Actually, that's why emote exists. Why don't we use it, and maybe practice the command a bit? (Nice suggestion anyway NXS).

I'd like something that would be available to griffons, too.

IMO, socials are best kept as simple as possible. An emote can always suffice for something complex.

<ponder alone>
You ponder.
Jack ponders.

<ponder other>
Jack ponders you.
Jack ponders Bill.
You ponder Bill.

<ponder self>
Jack ponders himself.
You ponder yourself.
