All that is needed is something big and clear about mentors in the newbi schools/creation a mentor should be able to help with all these problems of "miss placed" stats. Quite a number of people I have helped didnt know about the mentor command.

I think hints about not starting evil characters in lightie lands and vice versa would be more helpfull. I remember thinking ayamao was grey and the empire was lightie...

Empire+lightie isn't going to be much of a common mistake. Ayamao+grey I can understand, though. I kind of agree with it in theory, although it practice Ayamao's totally white.

I'm all for not allowing certain places vs races for rolling for the sake of newbs at creation.

IE: if you roll a delf, you won't have the option of Ayamao to start at.

That being the biggest. Or if its an alignment issue. Such as a diabolical rolling in Taslamar, not that its wrong or anything, but I can see how it would confuse the heck out of newbs. I almost rolled my lightie paladin in empire because I didn't know what help empire was and liked the name.

I like the country idea. Perhaps the best way is to give newbies a suggested list of compatible countries, based on their race/alignment?

But the last thing we need is more help files for newbies to plow through. On-screen advice only, please, and leave the rest for mentors.
