But if you have a list of 150 days worth of crimes...then work harder on getting a pardon... I mean if you're at war with the faction in question, of course you're not going to get a pardon... If you wan't the pardon, then start peace negotiations...or atleast a truce...

What you're saying here is that anyone not part of the ONLY "lawful good" allignment in the game deserves to be banished. Even the other lightie allignment is okay with breaking the law as long as it's done for the greater good, and only when the law proves itself unwilling or unable to serve the greater good.

That, my friend, would make for an extremely boring game.

Something does need to be done about this.

Getting a pardon from a lightie in SK right now is like winning the lottery. I got more pardons from graybies and darkies then lighties, which begs the question. Shouldn't they be more compassionate then the other two auras? Anywho, the banishment system is broken as it stands. It needs a severe overhaul. I don't like the idea of crimes being wiped at reboot. I love the idea of paying off Your crimes. I also love the idea that jail sentences beyond a certain number . . .ohhh . . .20days or so should be turned into execution. Install a bounty hunter system for PC's! I bet people would love to make chars (lightie, graybie, or darkie) going around hunting down criminals and collecting a bounty on them!

I think this attituse is total bs. What would the game be without bad guys? A mudsexxing mush? Thanks but I won't have any. You need bad guys to have fun playing a good guy, and bad guys break the law. The game should not turn to non-playable if you simply act acordingly to what your role is supposed to be. I agree with Kilia.

It's not BS it is common sense. I am not asking people to not break the law, I am saying that they choose to do so, yet then complain about the consequence.

Of course bad guys are required, but the requirement shouldn't mean that the tribunals have to make concessions to make their nefarious life easier.

If a baddie wants a pardon then ask for one and RP it out, they shouldn't just expect it to come their way freely.

If community service is what is required then why can't the two people agree something. There was a bard serving Exile recently by singing to the patrons of the inn, this was the agreement made between the tribunal and the person who wished for freedom in the lands once again.

edit: So there have been a few more posts since the above one. I think it would help if people could be pardonned for individual crimes, rather than all or nothing.

As for banishing, in my time in a leadership role I have banished one person... just one. The only pardons I have refused are to people who have (after an initial pardon) broken the law again and / or are members of a group who are at war with the tribunal.

So, while I believe what I believe in terms of not breaking the law, it is not to say I don't believe that lawbreakers should not have another means of regaining freedom of the area I am a Trib leader of. I just don't think crime list resets are the way about doing this. Wiping the list in this manner just removes another reason to RP.

Edit 2:

No that isn't what I am saying...

And furthermore, I hope I am not one of the people that are believed to be abusing the powers of banisment. I try and RP each case on the merits of what is said, not on the alignment of the person making the request.

Just as an FYI though... This is the typical thing I have started to hear:

Ev0l lawbreaker: "Unbanish me please I want to buy some stuff"
Me: "That is really not showing remorse for your actions"
Ev0l lawbreaker: "Then I will kill your guard"
me: *sigh* "You think that strengthens your case for freedom of these lands"

Yes, a little exaggerated, but not too far from the truth.

In real life, you can be sentenced to well over 100 years of jail time. Sentences of over 900 years are rare, but they exist, as well.

In SK, if you kill 30 people, especially those who enforce the law of a kingdom, you can expect to serve an extended sentence. I don't understand why this is so hard for people to get.

"Waaa! I broke the law! I killed a bajillion people in every land, and now I can't enter any of those kingdoms! I want my sentence reduced because I killed so many people and I don't think its fair that I have to pay for my actions!"

If you *don't* want to have a crime list two pages long, *don't* commit those crimes. Otherwise, be prepared to deal with the harsh logic that if you are a serial murderer, you will get treated like one. I would hardly expect Slayne to turn a new leaf just because he says he would. The only thing that would prove to me that he had changed would be an effort to buckle down and serve his sentence. At least then, if he turns around and murders in my kingdom, again, he will have been kept out of the loop for 150 days or so.

Listen, it's not that hard to understand. The laws are there so that breaking them means you get punished. If you don't like it, DON'T DO IT. You can be perfectly evil or threatening without murdering in your opponent's city.

I could understand a limit to a jail sentence, perhaps 60 days or so (about two in-game months), but there would have to be some way to convert crimes into other punishments. Like, let's say, fining the criminal's home kingdom and/or cabal/tribunal (let's say that if they're in a tribunal or cabal, those get fined first, and if not, then their home kingdom is fined - and a message is left for the tribunal/cabal leaders telling them who caused their coin to be lost) provided they are not from the kingdom they commit the crimes in, or by tallying up a debt which must be paid to the judge before you can do any sort of buying or selling in the kingdom.

I always wanted to join a guard (ayamao/CoN) but I never seem to be able to get in... anyway...

I recall when I was outlawed from nerina for mana leeching ONCE, then banished from that land... Same thing happened with the empire when I told Slayne I wouldnt vow loyalty to him (no offense, it was fun RP)... Then Arsilin taunted me and banished me from Taslamar... Rayvorath banished me from the north becuase I attacked him (didint kill him) and I forgot why I was banished from Ayamao... Revin even blacklisted me from Teron...

Now, Individually none of this would really matter... but being banished for such petty [REDACTED] from all lands of SK REALLY sucks...

I would say that we set a minimum standard for being banished if nothing else...

P.S thank god Golg Gave me a pardon so I could hang out in the north...

People continuously bring up the problem that a tribunal member will attack an opponent with the intent of getting them outlawed. If this is really so abused, I can make it so that attacking a tribunal member will no longer be against the law. Given that they are immune to breaking the laws themself, it would seem to be fair. Opinions?

That's what parole is for. I used it a lot as Arsilan, some people didn't get it and just kept breaking the law but others were able to work off their crimes while freely moving about in the country.

The law system is a lot better than it used to be. At least you don't get a crime for every spell you cast now.

However, it seems that it is bugged and that you'll end up spending 2 days for every 1 crime you commit because it is counting crimes TWICE.

I think that is preposterous - (Edit) D's suggestion
