On the subject of PAR, I think we should go back to the one PAR per class, and not the 12-16 PARs for "best RP" since we've all pretty much decided that PAR is based on how long you can keep a char, rather than actual ARPEE.

This is not about PARs but since you brought it up...before there were long lived characters who held PAR and the only reason another got it while Frollith was still alive is because Benzo said please do not give me the flag anymore. No one could get past Frollith.

I will not say that every PAR is unbiast and fair, but there are those who will enlighten opposite alignments and there are those who go out of their way to do so.

Peso, simply put, your RP most of the time SUCKS. And you can be a royal butthead. There is no RP in what you did this past week. Not a lick. But what you were rhymes with 'lick.' Not all of us have the desire or the want to be stuck in constant battle for THREE REAL LIFE HOURS, especially when we were in the middle of doing a requested favor and helping a true newbie learn how to play the game. /derail

I vote for more RP based fun stuff!!!!

If you can think of a way to measure RP that is better than counting rewards, then let's hear it.

We have it; it's SK's system of raising the dead. You're going to lose a lot of very expensive levels if you can't be bothered to RP.

I note that player/immortal judgement is the only scheme possible for rewarding RP. More rewards are fine, but I'm not interested in creating a bottleneck as suggested. The game is not made better by slowing down grinders, especially when it slows everyone else down too. If the problem is that RP-adventuring doesn't pay well, the solution is to make its mechanics pay.

You are a very smart man.

I'd also interject it's both players like Lirimaer here and Peso that affect the game in negative fashions.

Peso for his ZOMGMUSTWINSKATTITUDE and lirimaer for her "omg this is my social time because I don't have one in real life and this is what i use to fill the void" attitude.

And no, that's not a flame on her. It's not, it's genuinely not. It's just how some people tread this game -- as their socialization time. That only hurts the game. I don't mean the IC stuff either, I mean the yiming, the chatrooms, the forums, the ooc bonding, etc.

I mean if that's what she and lots of others choose to do rather than actually interact with folks in real life, fine, but it's one of the reasons I don't touch this game.

Lirimaer seems to have an idea of what I'm gunning for, here. I know that this idea, as is, would not be fair or healthy for the game and would not go very far towards achieving the goal of tying together the unrelated systems of RP and leveling. The hope is to try and develop an idea that somehow fits this idea of "roleplay rewarded, roleplay required" that SK advertises. As thunder noted, that is not true of SK's leveling system, and I believe it should be.

The death system does not count, because that is not a system of reward. That's a system of minimizing the pain, of damage control. Furthermore, most resurrections involve extremely little RP. It's always been like that, because nobody wants to stay dead and priests want to get their rez exp and go back to whatever they were doing. I'm not complaining about the system, but that's just how it is.

As is, RP only slows down your path to GM, and that's contrary to how the game describes itself. The closest thing we have is the enlightenment system, and there's no way in hell you can make it to GM with enlightenments.

The functionality of the PAR system can be questioned in another thread. It certainly could use improvement, but I don't think this is the thread for it.
