There is no problem with an elven paladin having sneak. The point I was trying to make was that the decision as to whether or not to actually avail yourself of the ability was an in-character one.

My first paladin had firm in-character views that it was dishonourable and unworthy for a paladin to skulk around like a hellion. Were I to play an elven paladin again, the character might take the view that it was nothing to do with skulking, but rather ungraceful and thus unbecoming of the dignity of his position to clump around like an ungainly human.

Oddly enough, and to return to topic, I take the same view of hellions. It's hard for me to imagine a hellion like Konstantin von Eisenfaust sneaking around in the shadows like a common rogue. On the other hand, the detachment of Vorak sneaking hidden and invisible through the streets of Teron or the Cursed Wood, to take full advantage of his opponents stupidity in allowing him to catch them unawares seemed perfect for the character in question.

You know the funny thing is this topic was beaten to death ages ago. Though when I brought it up I took a different angle. Instead of searching for whatever logic reason there was why I honor bound dark knight wearing plate would need with the skills of Sneak/Hide, I suggested they be renamed to Ninja's and brought down to cloth/leather. Then we just add an Evade skill to enhance their dodging abilities and all is merry.

I don't often find people who think the same way as I. This is exactly it. Sneak on its own is not necessarily 'shady'. Hiding however, is.
For elves, it is only natural to move around silently. They don't much do it consciously, it is just how they are.
