As far as this recent RP went:

Was anyone else rather disappointed with the immortal roleplay after the fist used 'chi' to reclaim their corpses? All the other players were shown was Ishiye being killed with the slay command and 'someone' dropping all of the corpses into the room. Couldn't an emote or two been thrown in there?

Was disappointing to see an event which could have included more being turned into a slay + drop all.

Regardless of how the final result was, I think the RP as a whole was very nice. Including that part you mention.

That's true. It'd be nice to have something as simple as legionaires coming into Exile and attacking, or vice versa. It'd at least help break the illusion of stagnancy.

Almost like a few months back when the Imperials were killing Sophus. Well I don't see many sophus these days (minus a few NPCs that pop up in the Empire). I thought those were good times. I was allowed to bring a character that down right hates the Empire to their people and offer his blade in what he considered a better thing.

Those days were great, groups of Sophus and legionnaire attacking each other and the City and Keep. Great fun on any account.

On recent limited experience with Mystery GRP

Most global roleplays held so far require player characters to know the right people, be online at the right time, and be at the right places. Some higher-up player characters (in their own rights) dislike sharing information or rather they distrust lower or new players characters. Some player characters dislike sucking up or asking to the point of begging so they can actually participate the global roleplay.

The good:

- Detailed and thoughtful NPCs construction from various NPC types to their descriptions and placement, overall evident of much effort put into this.
- Difficulty was scaled appropriately for both the wandering NPCs and the ones within the hive.
- Closing and rushing out of the exit from within the hives felt epic and real, the idea of the hives crumbling was an interesting surprise.
- Worthwhile experience was rewarded to all who were involved in closing the hives. Thanks.
- Gave characters in game something to interact about.

Some ideas:

- A global roleplay of this scale could use a bit more exposure. Maybe the weekend before the 'actual' showdown there could be a preamble with +exp turned on, allowing more players to catch on.
- Some kind of simple, linked puzzles involved would be good. Similar to the ones in Craeftilin, help kids with groundball, kids give hint to password, etc.
- Wandering NPCs do not seem to interact with players, this was a bit of a pity. Maybe they could do a few emotes or say something, even if it's in an alien language.
- Remember the Teron vs. Empire war a few years ago that MrP/Nashira hosted? Counting on the number of kills on each side, the room descriptions in Teron's main road changed, portraying the advancement of Imperial forces.

Further ideas:

- Decentralize global roleplays so while that player characters are required to form groups to achieve their goals, they do not need to go out of their way to 'make that friend' just so they can play.
- Take the most recent event for instance, once the invasion begins, a merchant NPC in every city could discover that carapaces these insect humanoids drop could be profitable, and would like to purchase them. Player characters can go collect them to sell once a day, only to the merchant of their home kingdom.
- Tribunal NPCs, or local militias setting up outposts to stop the invasion, and these militias want player characters' help! They would all react differently which would promote SK culture. For example, the Empire would be, "By the Emperor's orders...", Taslamar by the Queen's, etc.
- Several stages to gain access to final chamber. 2-4 players group up and gather insect parts from insect foot soldiers to turn-in, the outpost commander then gives them a cloak which protects them (or just allow entry) to the insect lieutenants. The lieutenants drop stuff that allow players to collect to kill the queen.
- Those who kill the queen are allowed to return to the magistrate and request for an unique amulet (or other slots) that says they did the deed and participated in the global roleplay.

Can we say case closed yet? It was awesome and fun. Could it be better? Of course, and I think Minette did a great job of detailing it. This weekend beat my expectations and I think many others.

SK Character: That'd be telling
Personally, I came along to partake in the bonanza and rolled a new character. After a few hours I realised something... additional XP is never going to hold my interest. Alas, unless it coincides with me coming up with a character I want to play then it is not really any good in the long term. I was too low level and new to hear about any of the GRPs, which is a shame, but hey... I loved the fact the mud was busy.

The positive is I got a reminder of what I loved about this game. See you all in Pyrathia.

This is exactly what we actually did. We publicly posted the times that each of the RPs would begin a week in advance. Maybe we could give people more time to figure out what is going on in-game, but the people who figure things out first always rush to solve the problem.

We made every effort to be inclusive of absolute newbies. There was an Initiate who participated in the gladiatorial combats. If you have trouble finding out what is going on IC, send a prayer asking for some hints for inclusion. I even went around and changed the weather so that people caught in a violent windstorm could make it to the event.

Please post ideas for types of global RPs that would be interesting to you.

We tried to have multiple kinds of RP events over the weekend. We had one arena battle (which we even had a few lowbies particpate in) and then we had a stop the invasion type of event. I don't know all the details about how that turned out, but I believe it was successful.

There was a lot of roleplaying that happened both between player characters and with immortal-animated NPCs during these events. Keep in mind that at least half of what happens during these events is what YOU guys make of it. This is your chance to see and talk to a lot of characters that you would otherwise have to kill on sight.

It was widely rumored that Emperor Slayne would make a rare apperance during the gladiatorial games. There was a chance there for people to take some initiative and alternately RP with him for diplomatic reasons or assassinate him. Nothing happened, so apparently these possibilities never occurred to anyone, or they thought them impossible. We are trying to be flexible during these events, so get imaginative!

Again, please post new types of events that you would like to see. Thanks!

My most favorite global rp of all time was the Mortoon Village looking for a Mayor rp sponsored by Werttrew. The rp was a week long with different events. Scavanger hunts, battles, quizzes and riddles. With folks earning points in the event and giving them the opition of giving their earned points to one chosen person if wished. In the end Cannibal's sprite had the most points and was the winner. It was just an rp title, with no real gain, but by far the best rp ever. A lot of politcs where invovled with many twists and turns.

Gotta agree - the Mortoon RP was absolutely sick. My favorite part was the 'SK history questions.'

A decent and fair summary

I'll make sure to take all these suggestions and compliments into consideration for any future events. Thanks for the detailed feedback.
