Tell me what it does that is so fantastic

An attack made against any member in the hellion's group is checked against the hellion's intimidation.

Yeah, and I've seen Valtari bounce off of intimidate like crazy because she failed her check (and could not attack the group again), yet someone can join in just because someone else has attacked the hellion?

So far the only argument is that it is good to circumvent RP just for a gank.

Intimidate allows a solo grandmaster to walk through a city filled with aggressive law NPCs and to have those mobiles not chase him.

It makes you essentially immune to pdeath by ethereal sorc leading mass NPCs to you.

Having more than one hellion in your group makes your group extremely difficult to attack at all.

I can't remember the last time one of my characters was intimidated by a hellion.

Yeah, but you have to hold concentration on every intimidate and it goes up in concentration with PCs that I've seen.

Had one of those NPCs broken through your intimidate, the entire group of NPCs would have gang raped you.

Intimidation concentration is extremely annoying. You can hold a dominate and detects without too much trouble, but if someone tries to attack you and fails the intimidate check, then you drop your detects, your dominate, and your intimidation, i.e. everything goes to hell.

That makes no sense. If you don't have the concentration available to intimidate someone then how do you intimidate them in the first place?

Algon, re-check intimidate against a PC. I trust it will go up dramatically.

None said the hellion has to strike back when he gets hit to allow others to break his intimidate. Hellions can be just fine in third row, maledicting/hellfiring people while they get to intimidate anyone attempting to target an attack to their group.

I'd love to see on the other hand Cyra trying to explain why intimidate sucks so much.

PS: Unfortunately I doubt the forum has posts from when Cyra had Ardith. On a thread about hellions/paladins he said paladins sucked compared to hellions and was telling how elite intimidate was back then.

Thank you for putting words in my mouth.

There have also been a lot of code changes since I played my last paladin 4-5 years ago.

As far as dealing with hellions, in PvP, intimidate hasn't stopped me from killing any hellion in YEARS. This skill is definitely not an end all, be all that you're making it out to be.

As far as I'm concerned this is just a convenient little loophole that players want to continue to abuse so that they can attack a hellion even through intimidate.

I have to agree with, Cyra. The intimidate effect should not get bypassed because another player/NPC attacks the hellion. If that makes intimidate unbalanced and/or overpowered, the concentration required to hold intimidate can be increased to compensate.

The scenario Cyra describes seems more like a bug than an intended feature, though. And, no, I don't play a hellion. My argument is based on two factors sorely lacking from this forum: reason and common sense.
