Actually no, I want cabals to be secretive again. Anything to further their lack of secretivity (tm owned by p40) is a further destruction of cabals primarily and SK secondarily.

They're already ruined. Unless there's some massive revamp in the work which is already confirmed with an huge NO. There will be no secret anymore. People know where the HQ's and have no problem finding out the members now-a-days. Futile to tag them with secretive now thanks to the Outstanding introduction of the ever so fabulous Capture the Flag... sorry CRS system.

Yes, it would be nice if you could tell the mages from the priests from the warriors. I can probably add that in at some point.

Thank you!

There is other, better, more important work to be done to keep the game fresh and continue to bring in new players.

Agreed, and glad to hear we have something to look forward to again.

With no sarcasm as the posts above, yes, please, at least revise the help files so that secrecy is 'optional', and cabals are not fixed in a single mindset.

Trust me, Minette. My disdain for ctf and the destruction of the secretive nature of cabals has no sarcasm value attached. No, I don't want anything about cabals to be available to the common people. Yes, I want absolutely everything about cabals to be secretive. Yes, I strongly believe ctf destroyed cabal secretivity(tm). Yes, I strongly believe ctf chased strong players from SK.

Absolutely no sarcasm there.

If secretive is being removed as a focus of cabals. Could we please talk about them freely w/o the posts getting deleted?

I do agree with Pushing40 on a couple of pts. CTF *obliterated* the secrecy of the cabals. Having cabals and tribs so much more powerful than the average populace doesn't help. Having cabals and tribs more powerful than everyone who is not only makes the goal of ever single char to enter a cabal/trib so they are more survivable in PK. If something was done so that it wasn't necessary to have an edge in PvP by entering a cabal/trib. The secrecy will come back a long ways.

GAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

I'm relatively sure you mean even numbers of PCs on both sides. Guess what? That still leaves raiders outnumbered somewhere in the order of 2 or 3 to 1. Why? Because the inner guardian counts for a four to five GM group all by itself. We'll call the outer guardian a 2 GM group, and be conservative doing so.

Add in a group of 9 defending PCs, many of whom will likely be using the very cabal spells the raiders are attempting to disable (many of which are perfectly suited to shutting a group of 9 attackers down entirely).

That's...9 vs 16. No group has a chance against that. The spammed NPC guards are better, since they're stupid.

Unless this means no more "wrap a towel around your head" mentality about discusing cabal skills/spells on the forums, what would be the point, exactly? The practical reality is that there is no secrecy involved in SK cabals, period. As I mentioned on another thread (which I believe was deleted due to "zomg naming of cabal spells") any level 1 character can ask almost anyone and get a complete list of the cabals, their abilities, the locations of their HQs, and even a good portion of their current rosters. BUT WHAT EVER YOU DO, DON'T MENTION ANYTHING ON THE FORUMS! THE ILLUSION OF SECRECY MIGHT BE SHATTERED!

Okay so yesterday we attacked the Harlie keep with about 5-6 people with about 10-11 harlies + allies online and had something like 10 NPCs spawn on us twice...I don't think this system is working correctly...

It's never worked "properly." I'm sure if they didn't delete stuff from these forums, I could go back to Aerlyn's time, when I bitched about getting effed sideways by it back then.

The Harlequin's jesters never counted more than 8 members plus allies online and you still outnumbered them at that point. Also, allies don't get counted unless they actually show up and get into the fight.

But it doesn't matter because the old guard players will never be satisfied with anything about this feature. The only reason I'm even bothering to read this thread is to see if any other worthwhile tweaks like the differing descriptions idea is brought up.

Yes, we did outnumber them. But I don't think it was by much, yet the amount of NPCs that appeared seemed excessive. All this change has accomplished is to make people even LESS eager to participate in CRS when there are members of the cabal about, since they will not only fight PCs, but also a large number of NPCs.

I'd really like to know how it is calculated.
