This is arguably one of the most
powerful combat spells available to any spell-caster.

Arguably more powerful than FoD and Pet...sounds okay to me..then again I'm playing warlock right now so my opinion may be biased

Even without max art, you still cant fail. A resist only stops the cling, the normal damage still hits.

Normal dmg is half making it basically into harm.

Also, any melee char could have killed witherwood's character even quicker, so...QQ MORE?

Yes, due to a certain cabal spell that can be resisted. All art matters in this case is that I need even more reflex to stop the cling. Even without the cling, you have a faster harm than a priest, ready made tank, stone skin, worse healing...etc. I don't even know if sanc checks any of the dmg to magma. And it definitely does to harm. So uh, sorry if I feel it's a little overpowered, but I do. It's completely possible that I'm wrong and just need to learn how to get around it, this is just how I feel about it after getting hit with it.

The other instant death spells are -much- easier to save against than magma spray. FoD is also affected by MP/MR, petrification is also affected by MR. Magma spray only has reflex as a save, which is the hardest enchant to put on an item, and completely ignores MP and MR.

No ones has tested if it still ignores MR as it use to.

Any melee character isn't going to have stone skin up the whole time he's running around. I feel a lot better about fighting someone I can cleave/maledict, switch to a melee weapon with, than someone I can't reach without getting bashed, who can two shot me. But hey, I guess there's no problem with combat lasting 4 whole rounds.

Warlocks are finally feared instead of laughed at.

With my class I can take you in one with enough preperation. I guess thats just the only difference...warlock = no prep.

The only reason I won is because he failed a spell that would have meant he won. Its not overpowered, I got lucky.

To be fair, if I see you coming with 40 undead, I'm out of there. In a city with law NPCs, sure I might skirmish you with a crossbow until you eth, but I'm not going to try to one vs 41 you. This wasn't 1v41 though. Necros also have way more weaknesses than warlocks.
