Self-defense is pretty useless for every class except Barbarians, but it's still there just in case you happen to be walking back to your corpse under Morea and start dying to a bat and unable to flee because there's a fytrysk next to you, or in case you happen to run out of mana while meleeing a little sprite girl as a caster and can't run away because you're in a fly-only area. (Necro friend of mine died because of this. I laughed so hard at the thought of a little sprite girl killing a Grandmaster Necromancer over 100 rounds.)

I like the changes in post 1. I also agree they should get dodge and Im all for bringing whips back to priests actually... Thought id throw my own 2 cents in. Seeing as only a few classes can use them and none really do, I think I actually would if leveling a priest.

Whips are pro leveling for the light-armored classes that get them.

I mean for bards. I don't really see priests getting whip, though.

Who all gets them? Bards and mercs? Not really much use there. Not to mention priests used to have them, also there is some IC basis to it as a certain high priest NPC carries a certain religious relic whip (Not sacred, but still its pretty obvious who the whip belongs to).

I honestly never had problems lvling a priest, and I just hit things with a mace/shield(sometimes crossbows because they do some nic blunt dmg), but this change to second attack would be nifty.

The higher level you are compared to the skill level, the easier you master it. Kindly keep staves and scrolls at amateur, please.

I'm fairly certain that's not correct.

Clerics shouldn't be getting second attack sooner than melee-focused classes. I can see both shamans and priests getting it at Apprentice, to speed levelling before they get good spells for the purpose.

IMHO, every class should get it this early. The improper design of other classes should not inhibit the proper design of this class.

Priests do not need dodge. Whip would be kinda fun.

The only change I'd say that might be useful would be to move second attack up a tiny bit. The rest of it should stay in place.

I haven't agreed with any of the ideas you've posted lately, Sal. Priests aren't that hard to level, they're fine as it is.
