We've discussed these things before, but I think the work necessary for the first option is sort of overshadowed by the potential use.

Remember how big the push for pemotes was? Yeah. I try to use them as much as possible, but it's rare to see them.

So from an immortal standpoint - why bother?

I don't actually like the second idea. We did talk about voice qualities though, which I liked slightly better. For when someone's yelling, or when you're blinded/dirt kicked, or a voice in your head. That you would recognize a voice that you were familiar with.

Yes, it is.

I'm so happy, I haven't seen any *a creepy voice from the pits of hell that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up*-ish things in forever.

Now that I think about it more, I would like the targetted emotes; even though it might not be the easiest thing to implement, it would make the emote system more diverse.

The emoted say seems like a bit much though, to be honest. I personally would get really annoyed if someone made an alias for an emoted say and constantly used it. Also, being blind would have to affect the emoted portion of the say too.

No it wouldn't. If anything, it would remove the abject stupidity of not being able to recognize voices you know just because you can't see who's speaking.

Any different than if the suggested modification to 'say' was implemented? Or are you against that whole idea?
