Insulting in its truth. The entire mud abuses the law code, and although I spent just about a year constantly posting about it in forums and being one of the very, very, very few players who refused to abuse it - I realized that the imms weren't going to fix anything.

On this character, I specifically set out to get it changed. Hopefully, the abuse will force code changes that seems unnecessary.

I have never abused the law system. I have never cheated or even came close to cheating in this game. I think it is sad that people do. They only ruin their own gaming experience. Just because you and the people you play with and communicate with on YIM cheat and abuse the games code, doesn't mean that 99% of the mud does.

Does anyone else find it funny that one of the biggest abusers of the games code, is on a "crusade" to fix it? Just another open excuse to break the games code to me, because he knows the Imms are over worked and it will take them awhile to get to him.

Algon, just play the game and have fun.

I don't cheat. When I abuse 'legal' parts of the game that I consider unfair (like a tirbunal NPC with final strike) I instantly report the bugs. Anyone who walks through cities they are at war with, without being outlawed, is a cheater in my eyes.

I had the (flaming) shadow-formed ring created for me by Wert because I won a contest in which I reported the most typos and bugs of any player :P.

You have claimed otherwise to me Algon. Back when you first started to contact me on YIM you even tried to get me to cheat with you.

Once a cheater, always a cheater.

*cries*

How could you do that to me Algon? I thought we had something special!!! You can make your own damn dinner tonight.

*throws the full pot of stew across the kitchen*

Are you serious? Like I care enough about a game to keep logs about my playing time in it.

Don't tell me you do that.....Do you video tape when you went outside as a kid and played? No wait, your mom comes over and records you playing on the computer doesn't she?

Keep in mind that what Algon considers cheating isn't necassarily what everyone else considers cheating.

I'm not saying he's wrong, just biased.

He considers turning yourself in for crimes before you hit the banishment mark to be cheating. The imms have stated that this is the intent of the law code.

Algon wants the deathmark back.

Not everyone else does.

I believe there are revisions that can be made to the law code that address some areas that it is lacking. I don't believe that its necessary to make deathmark or instant banish possible. I see a variety of things that can be done to make things work better overall.
Eliminate or reduce wilderness spawns of bounty NPCs
Tweak economy so bounty NPC cost isn't meaningless
Shorten the crime list required to banish to five crimes or one PC kill
Offer more options to the criminal to offset punishment that reward the tribunal such as hard labor and fines or bribes
Reduce the jail sentences in overall duration and allow offline sentence reduction at a reduced rate
Fix weaknesses with magical items and spells that don't incur crimes
Warring tribunal NPCs should engage opposing faction NPCs in their territory
Ensure that group members of all those involved in criminal activities are able to be reported
Ensure that those ordering anything to kill are able to be reported
Tribunal guards should refuse any order to kill or switch to mode kill

With all of these changes, sadly, I will still be able to viciously abuse law code by mode stun charming people, bringing them home, killing them. Then turning myself in naked for _no punishment_ to attempted mugging.

The #1 change that needs to be made is the ability for players to send an email to their KD asking for individual players to be banished, even though they have no crimes.
