Let's discuss this here.
Personally, I think that it should require massive amounts of RP to come back from. After what I did to get back, and the time and effort put into my death RP, let me just publicly say that Faerti's FS pissed me the hell off. She made demands from Tiadre to come back, and then QQ'd her way through the punishment that the Gods gave her.

Since you've called me out here, without actually RPing with me once or messaging me or ANYTHING like that, let's speak the truth here.

I never made demands out of Tiadre. She OFFERED to help, because you know, she actually attempts the love/compassion RP. And she didn't actually end up helping me at all, because I up took control of the situation myself and began RPing my way with the IMMs.

I didn't QQ anything. The punishment given to me by the gods was perfectly fair, and I never complained about it OOC. I thought it was more than fair. I was upset by it IC, obviously, because my magic was taken away, but that's exactly how an HF of Magic would ACT if her magic was taken away. It's not exactly rocket science.

I RPed my way the hell out of this. I'm sorry you're bitter, or even jealous, but honestly, it's not that common for a sorc to have to wait two weeks for an IMM rez. I think you're the first I've ever heard of. Most of them had to wait a day or less, that I've heard of. I had to wait a few days myself. I'm sorry for whatever reason you had to wait for two weeks, but for me the situation was different and a LOT of RP came out of it.

I was tarnished, deported, banished, jailed for days, lost all my crap, had to reincarnate, gave up my sacred suit, had my bank emptied, made lots of enemies, and had no magic.

I have never met the IMMs in person nor do they have any favoritism for me. I don't talk to them on Y!IM like some of you do. I sent two PMs about it, one to Ain and one to Achernar. That's about as OOC as it got. I just tried my damnedest to RP as hard as I could and I pretty much stayed online all the time to RP it all out.

You wouldn't know ANY of this because you've talked to my character like once since it happened, and not about this.

So stop being bitter and comparing our situations.

And on that note, no, I don't think FS should be deleted. It's fine the way it is. I won't ever train it again if I roll another sorc ever, and have it disabled for Faerti... but it shouldn't be that way for every sorc. And it's perfectly legitimate for a Chaos sorc to cast it as a final act.

I have seen one decent use of final strike: about a year and a half/two years ago, when Tshotha killed like eight people mid-combat.

The amount of fun vs. the amount of grief should make the removal of this spell an obvious necessity.

I didn't have to wait. I was offered an IMM-ress the DAY AFTER, and I declined it.

What does that tell you?

To be fair, I asked Faerti if I could be of any help. Faerti asked me if I would be willing to organise a ceremony similar to the one I'd done for Caeserea. I said I would try, but that it would likely be a long time. I got a sense of urgency about the matter, because Faerti was to be executed again soon for her crimes in Exile.

OOCly I did feel pressured. I had two full weeks to think of a ceremony for Caeserea, whose sacrifice was in full accordance with the help file for final strike, especially these parts:

Quote:
A final strike is the
very last and most desperate defense for a sorceror who knows that she is
sure to be defeated by her enemies.

and

Quote:
In order to be resurrected, the
final strike must have been an act of self-sacrifice revolving around well
roleplayed conflict

I stated at the time, ICly, that I was not sure I could help. At the time of the request, nearly everyone was angry with Faerti, and there was little possibility I could collect enough people who were not in order to perform a ceremony in the time she wanted it. I understand it was an OOC mistake but we all had to deal with it ICly, most of all Faerti. And it was a great contrast between Caeserea's situation, which was not presented in haste and urgency, and Faerti's, which was.

Just wanted to clarify the situation from my own perspective.

I dislike the spell myself. I wouldn't cry if it were gone.

It tells me that you should probably get off my case, then. I RPed through FIRE to get what little punishment I got. I didn't just delete. I could have - but I decided that my character was worth sticking it through. I didn't just get a slap on the wrist for it, if that's what you are implying.

I'm sorry if I ever pressured Tiadre, but if it bothered her, she never let on. And I ended up leaving her alone anyway, and taking care of stuff myself.

For the record: the title "CURSED BY THE GODS, HOMELESS" is IC for "I suck at life, pity me"

Also known as QQing.

Caeserea was pretty much not interested in discussing it with you, then or now. So she's not going to.

It was how my CHARACTER reacted. Because I certainly wasn't the "Mage of Everclear" any more, was I? My god. Get over it. I was fairly calm about it OOC, considering the fact that the character that I've put almost a year into could have been ruined.

You didn't have any place to judge the situation from my perspective. You were not involved, you never asked me about it, and at best you saw a log and talked to Tiadre. And what, titles on the who list? Hahaha.

As much as the SK community loves to read drama on the forums, I'd rather not see this thread side tracked by two people arguing over the same thing for pages on end. You've both stated your piece, you aren't going to change each others minds, leave it at that. There's a legitimate issue here and I'd hate to see it lost amongst two people bickering.

Let me rebut what I said on the issue at hand. I wouldn't mind if FS got replaced. I still think Klee used it fairly and that I RPed it out well considering the external circumstances. I liked Ilky's ideas of putting delete into the flag, because I kinda agree you shouldn't be able to FS and then delete immediately afterwards.

But the replacement for it should be something good. Right now, I'm thinking it could be something similar to voodoo. Something that still makes people have a slight fear of mages, (I mean as it is now, people just resist petrification, everyone can grab a wand to dispel your etherealform, and some of us just aren't into charm as a PK tactic) something just as powerful... that a mage can do by HERSELF. I'm at a loss for ideas, just like everyone else seems to be. But it should be a powerful offensive spell. Maybe even something like holy word or another room spell.

However, this conversation has taken place before. I'm not sure Dulrik would change anything, even with recent events.

And that being said, I'm still not on the get-rid-of-FS bandwagon. But I don't think anyone would cry if it were gone.

I'm completely against any idea of any spell or skill forcing someone into deletion. Yes often people use it as a way to be the end all for their character, but others have used it in the middle of battle and for other reasons then have worked their way back to life. Besides, if you just make final strike the delete key for someone, whats that stopping? If people are using it then deleteing, you are just encouraging the behavior you are trying to stop by causing a force deletion, which doesn't fix anything. If anything it's saving them the time of typing delete twice.

I like the idea of mages have a sacrificial mass explosion spell. I say change final strike so it kills the mage and does 60-70% damage to everyone in the room. Some people will die, some people won't. If the mages group is falling apart and starting to die, it would make for the desperation move that the original final strike was intended to do. In this version gear would not be destroyed, IMMs would not need to rez but the player would have to wait a couple of days RL time to be rezed. If the spell was something along those lines, the usage would go up, but the damage it would do would be iffy so the cost vs reward would go down. You also wouldn't get a random sorc blowing up an Inn full of people and deleting.
