Yeah, after all, it's such an ancient tongue that it was spoken to the previous cycle of creation. It doesn't make sense that everyone and their moms can speak it fluently now.

Except now that everyone knows it, it becomes renewed, if everyone learned to speak and write Latin, it would no longer be a dead language.

Then you should also start RPing that people are getting demonized or turning into demon-worshipers, since the previous inhabitants who spoke this tongue were actually demons. :P

I kinda wish Firmyrn was more selective, and less people knew it, but if that were the case, my character probably wouldn't have learned it to begin with.

Not sure if this is possible, but separate it out from the other languages and make it a Jman level skill so it cannot be taught by PCs and/or take it away from all NPC language trainers, switch it to one NPC that you have to do a quest to get to. Those who are dedicated to learning all the languages and those who are really into quests will do it thus preserving the "eliteness" of the language.

I love the languages in SK and all the history behind each one and I try to share that when I teach them but I know that generally speaking, most people do not see it that same way. Instead they view it as one more thing to master to make the game easier.

Just my two cents. Take it or leave it.

Edited for spelling.

Speaking Latin wouldn't make me a Roman.

This is not RL :P It's not random that some faiths in the game or even some groups are not very fond of anyone who speaks Firmyrn ;)
