i recharged a lot, several of them

here were my foundings:
recharge skill rating is independent from the chance to recharge/leak (i.e. even having very poor recharge skill rating it is possible to recharge, as long as the cast is succesful)

overcharging the device has a very high chance of making it explode, so i had to be careful and find the original maximum charge first

i have never had a device explode from 0 charges, or while it's still under the maximum charge

it's possible (and often does) to go into negatives with charges but they go back up

I've never had anything blow up, unless I tried to put too many charges.

Except for when you had Eziri and Aldric would recharge for you. I blew up a ton of those mirrors because you'd give them to me with only one or two charges on them. They'd explode when leaked too much.
