Terrible. Its fine the way it is. This is coming from a guy who gets owned by necros all the time.

Then you think it's acceptable for one class to be a great deal more powerful than other classes?

Edit: or to rephrase.. do you think it's acceptable that there is a class that can solo inner guardians while others can't even come close to accomplishing such?

Due to recent changes, necros can't solo inner guardians anymore, nor do I even think they can solo outer guardians with the crazy spam dispel. The inner guardian's gas blasts are like being hit by a semi.

That simply isn't true. A necro owned an inner guardian a few days ago.

I'm sure you could flesh this out more to be more feasible, but in the end I don't think the benefit is worth the effort. Necros do need a bit of a wimp, but it can be accomplished much more simply.

And, for full disclosure, my current character would benefit greatly from changing necromancers the way you suggest.

No one is suggesting that anyone's input in this discussion is anything but objective.

And I hope it stays that way.

Really now..I'd like to see a log of that. From my understanding the guardians were changed so necros couldn't solo them. You know, I think one good change to help balance necros is make animates not be able to be buffed. The fact you have 20 furied NPCs coming at you is bad enough.

I personally love this idea. I think it would make necromancers far more interesting from a roleplay perspective, and balance the class while allowing truly superb players to benefit from their expertise.

I support this idea.

If you want to make necros manageable, you really only need to do one thing: figure out something so you can't buff your animates. You can tank fifteen unbuffed animtes. You can't tank fifteen buffed animates. Nothing can, unless it's just immune to their attacks. I have no idea how to do this, unless you just add a special immunity to certain spells (giant strength, haste, frenzy being the big ones) on the undead race.

@kin: It recently became much more difficult for necros to solo outer guardians, but they still have no problem with inner guardians, unless I missed something.

I actually have no problem with the way that necromancers are right now. I can think of some ways around their strengths. I won't discuss them here, though.

I can't tank fifteen buffed wraiths with hunting spears for more than a single round, you know.

I can understand that and respect it.

However, it seems to me that you're missing a part of my point here. What I am/was trying to say is that necromancers should be balanced with other classes. You're certainly not the only person who knows ways of dealing with necromancers, but that doesn't mean that the necromancer class should have such a vast potential that it could nearly be placed in a category of its own. They should be a class of equal power, compared to others. In short, yes necromancers can be dealt with and killed, no they should not be able to accomplish things by themselves that other classes cannot dream of.
