I'm guessing that Whocarez is actually refering to actual coding in the source and not scripting as most imms do. The only person I know of to ever get access to the sourcecode was Xandrennus. Before he was given access there were SO many pot-holes in the code and everything was just going slow with the mud - he came around and fixed a ton. Rumour had it that Xandrennus and Dulrik didn't agree on some stuff and Xandrennus ran off (with some of the code?). Anyway, ever since then noone has been assisting with the actual code, which is where the mud REALLY needs something. We have plenty of areas, but how often do we get a new class added to the game, new gameplay features or -- actually, how often do failed gameplay implementations get removed and become replaced with other stuff to keep the mud thriving? At least that's the story I've heard from back in the day uptil now.
On a sidenote regarding scripting and area-creation etc. - I don't care much for the trend of players becoming imm's as it seems it ends up badly for the mud 90% of the time - great player becomes imm and then leaves the mud forever. Fix that
Ehm.. I'm thinking this is a bit off topic though?
On topic - I love levelling
And I know at least one of the players who have been replying to this thread complaining about lvl'ing has lvl'd about 100000 characters, spending 99% of that time lvl'ing them and maybe not even 1% actually playing them... In the case of people doing that, perhaps they should start playing their lvl'd character, stay with them and let them thrive and develop. That is what I would do if it wasn't because I actually didn't mind lvl'ing.
