The example given by Edoras is particularly interesting.

Perhaps there is another factor besides up-skill check per manual skill command.

Like level or if the skill is automatic. And perhaps certain automatic skills are different in their upskillability.

Personally I think luck should affect skillups.

The fact the game treats us like mushrooms in what is a total game mechanic issue is annoying as #&%%

Not that this is new of course..

Yeah, every skill has its own chance of improvement on check. It's why you'll master second attack at a different rate than dodge, finesse or dual wield.
