I may not be as experienced as some of you here, but I have been playing this game off and on for 17 years and I can confidently say there is little in SK that hasn't been touched, adjusted or changed over that time. Can any of you confidently say that a decision you made 15 years ago never came up in your mind to question it now? Especially with the smaller player base that we currently have compared to the much larger numbers of years ago... I don't see the change of this rule as being so bad, especially if it was well role-played, additional difficulties given for the rarity of the occurrence and adjustments made on the character's ability to offset the advantage they would receive for such an action. Just laying out my opinion, I support the decision that was made here given the way it was handled from what I read here.
This is a pretty good explanation.
For my part, I am still not excited about Barbarian in Fist RP. But the staff needs to be empowered to make decisions and I was pretty much the only objector on the staff. I gave my blessing with the provision of removing berserk, which was definitely needed for RP reasons and probably needed for balance reasons as well.
In case you haven't noticed, we are working to revamp a lot of things recently. Griffons only having one viable option for a cabal (Hammer) wasn't really balanced either for them or for the light side of the equation, so assuming this works out okay, it will likely not remain a unique snowflake character. Barbarian Fist w/o Berserk will just be the new standard.
