Songs of protection and war are useful against deaf foes.
Song of death needs to take a bigger chunk of PE and ME you are never going to wear a spell caster out of ME with it.
Could always change anti magic to have a chance to reflect spells back at caster, but a dispel effect would be alright.

If bards could swap between songs quicker I think you would see more different songs being used. The problem I see about using multi songs in combat is the lag time in changing a song. If you could switch from one song with out stop lag into the next on next line. I think you would see bards using multi songs in combat situations.

The deafness is one of the situations I had in mind for songs of war, the problem with it is that if they're deaf the shield part of protection is less useful, and the +hit part of songs war and the bonus that gives to parry/eparry/riposte will almost nullify the armor spell bonus of songs of protection, combined with that you hit more often and that you do more damage...

As for no lag time on songs, I see too much abuse with that as nice as it would be. Perhapse if there was only lag when you start singing but now when you're trying to stop? That would still allow for faster switching of songs, but limit the abuse you can do with it by limiting your actions after you start a new song.

Regarding songs of antimagic: Just buff their effect and they can be powerful enough for people who keep charmies/controls in concentration. Very useful, just too weak.

Now, so far the only other conclusion that we can come to is that ardith stoped mudsexxing sithara and grakus is an utter newb who speaks way too much for what he really knows.

PERSUASION SUCKS. The success rate for me was at about 15-25%.

Songs of sleep rocks only in group combat or against whiny swashies.

Songs of silence rocks. Now, let list what else makes bard cool:

[REDACTED] wpns: check
[REDACTED] other abilities: check
[REDACTED] other songs: check
no e-parry or shield block: check
Tumble: check

Note: I got a group of bards to do this once and only once. If you want to kill something, get 6 bards together singing death.

[REDACTED] weapons? Don't bards get swords, whips and xbows? All weapons with some range/reach last I checked.

Bard-ish weapons are fine.

I totally concur, persuasion does suck. One part has to do with it is that you have to time it EXACTLY right - for example, if a sorc is in mid-cast, it will not work. If a merc is knocked out from bash, it won't work. Basically, if the person you're trying to persuade is in lag, it won't work - and you'll be in lag for about 3 rounds.

And yes, it does fail quite a bit.

Yea uh, its not usable on people in combat so half of your post is null and void.

Ok I have been playing a bard off and on for a while now and I will say that persuasion doesn't work as well as most skills and spell at that level.

Bards are a mixture class, and were never made to be solo killing machines. Want to go play a bard like class which is great a solo killing go play a shaman.

The one thing I will say thats bad about bards though is this, since most spells increase in effectivness as one progresses (example a vet's poison spell will be weak compared to a GM poison spell) why can't the songs of protection, healing, war and death increase in power to. Not a big boost mind you but a better one then thet get now.

Songs DO get better with level. Amateur song of protection isn't nearly as good as Grand Master song of protection. Also note that bards singing the same song use a combination of their level for the song effect.
