Remove scrolls from rogues?

Prior to bards it might have made sense to have an "adventurer" class which access to scrolls, but bards fill the role of knowing how to use magical items better than rogues. Nothing else in the rogue skill set is remotely magical, at least bard songs are semi-magical. After all, scouts lost staves (*is still bitter about that one, having had a scout at the time* x_x)

*grabs a pack of marshmallows and waits for the flames*

Rennus's argument does have some merit though. Why would a rogue know how to use scrolls? But taking them away wouldn't really address the issue that's being discussed here I don't think.

After years of backstabbing and circle stabbing being around together, I don't see why there is an issue with it all of a sudden. There are plenty of other ways to get killed by someone instantly, this is no differant. I highly doubt anything will or needs to be changed with it.

Look how long it took for final strike, finger of death, and voodoo to get removed from the game. Oh wait.....!

I've been backstabbed like twice ever and those were both from NPCs, and I've killed Dago. Granted, it was with a level 45ish necro, but I just created a bunch of wights, didn't even arm them, and still took him out. I think that's mostly due to the fact that my first character was a rogue that got the crap beat out of her, so I know the ways to get around them.

Right, but the main point is that you never got me either in those twenty tries :).

Though I did die to circle stab after chasing whoever gathered your corpse out into the cursed wood. Fun times.

I don't think anyone here is disputing the fact that a backstab can be avoided, that's pretty much obvious to everyone (I hope). What I am disputing is the fact that there should be one-shot skills/spells in SK, which includes backstab.

Wimp bs and cs and give rogues something else to make them more.. balanced. Something like enhanced dodge or something, which increases to frequency of dodge and also gives the ability to actually dodge certain skills.. or increases the frequency of dodging those skills or something. Man, that would make halfling rogues badass.
