After reading the discussion, does this still seem like a good idea to you to bridge the gap?

They do indeed get an extra attack at master. I know rogues get damage increases on backstab at either, master or champion, and again at grandmaster. I'm sure most other classes have these hidden boost for reaching a new status, I just want to know what they all are.

I remember one year back when i couldn't get fifth (or maybe sixth) attack with a specific weapon and i got it the moment i reached master or gm status. So i guess it is true, but you can only notice that with fast weapons.

You are referring to specialize and fury the level based skills? Or atleast only mercs and barbs?

A sprite swashie can get five attacks as soon as they get second attack. Seven with haste with fast enough weapons. I've never had more at level 47. So swashies exempt? I want extra attacks too!

It doesn't give you an extra attack 24/7 nor an extra attack if you wield a landsknecht which can give you four(?) attacks maximum. If the extra attack thing does exist (and i wasn't doing any noobish mistake) it just raises the maximum number of attacks you can do; for example from five to six. Consider it like wisdom after the age tick. Your wisdom cap is raised but you don't get a wisdom point (doesn't age tick work like that?). So a mentor level barb, furied and gm hasted won't make the best use of an epee. I'm not sure about mercs.

You have noticed i'm not referring to fury/specialise and again these were the thoughts of a true n00b one year ago. A mentor barb can try that and post. He just needs a gm sorc and an epee/waki. Something tells me he won't be able to get all the attacks at mentor level.

EDIT: Just a thought. Maybe the higher the status, the better the fury and thus the haste you get from it, so it would apply to more weapons. So, a mentor barb could do the same test with a slow weapon like a landsknecht and check the number of the attacks, but i don't think it works this way.

The point remains though. We can't make proper decisions without all the information.

You never get "an extra attack" from levelling. If you have fourth attack trained but you aren't using a fast weapon, you may only be eligible for three attacks. Specialize and fury, which improve your weapon speed, continue to improve as you level. At some point, you may become fast enough to get the attack you weren't getting earlier. Whether that ever happens (or even needs to) depends entirely on the weapon you are using.

Bumping this up. Has anyone revised their opinion, is everyone still where they were before, has any consideration towards this kind of change been made? Where do we all stand?

I voted for numero 3. Mainly, I'm indifferent about which way it ends up going, but it needs to go one way or the other. No more of this money in the middle garbage.

Either Master should be the same as GM except for some sort of prestige factor, or the crusade to make GM hard needs to stop and something like Heroes needs to be re-added.
