If I promise not to res any more deep-elves ever again, and I promise to keep my character, can we all stop fighting?

I hate it when we fight :(

I wouldn't pick if you checked your information before making accusations or implications. Really, I wouldn't. :drunk:

I've a lot of sympathy for Liri. I've had two characters hit by clarified help files/immortal stances myself. One adapted; one just couldn't because of the huge character shift it would require. But deleting didn't sour the character for me. It gave me a great story to end on. It also gave me more interest in working the gameworld's story, instead of just using it. Though frustrating at the time, the experience worked out for me.

One of the costs of playing a character concept near the edge, is that sometimes that edge gets redefined. It's a pain, but without an enforced common gameworld, you can't have a good RP game. Sometimes good players/characters get caught in the enforcement net; submitting is another way these people contribute to the game.

I personally think emnity should be a guideline and not a "LAW." It doesn't take into account for mitigating circumstances. Besides, the help file under elf culture says Common Elves can tolerate deep-elves. If this is not true, GET IT OUT OF THE HELP FILE!

There are also other things not considered. Not all deep-elves come from Ch'zzrym. There should be culture guidlines for Surface deep-elves or maybe even deep-elves from other parts of the world, like Northern deep-elves and Imperial Deep-elves.. maybe even Zhenshi deep-elves and Taslamaran Deep-elves. The same can be said for elves. Not all elves come from Sith'a'neil. Why do we have to be so narrow minded on this issue?

An example of mitigating circumstances: maybe an elf was orphaned and raised by unscrupulous half-elves from Teron and even though scrupulous, might be naive and less inclined to follow emnity.

What if another elf happened to have a tragic event that caused a form of insanity? Possibly to throw caution to the winds and deliberately seeking out dangerous situations?

I once played an elf that was incredibly naive, trying always to see the good in people and believed everyone deserved a chance. I allowed that elf to trust a deep-elf. It lead to some incredibly role play that involved nearly everyone, the fall of a paladin from grace, a war between Hammer and Adepts, and even a couple of Imms were involved. (This was a really long time ago).

Finally, I do want to point out, the main page of this web site says, "while we may try to steer you away from an action with subtle warnings, we try hard to let you perform any action which makes sense." If that's true, let's not stifle roleplay with legalistic BS.

That's my two cents... and yes.... I'm back.

I do sort of agree with this.

However, in my opinion, ignoring or downplaying enmity has started to become the norm rather than an exceptional stance for elves (and deep elves at that). I can't think of an elf except perhaps one paladin who plays any sort of aggressive stance to deep elves - deep elves, well, there are at least two or three who are more "mean" but then I think it is easier to be a combative darkie at the moment than lightie.

Anyhow, if 9/10 elves were roleplaying enmity hardcore, I imagine the imms would be relaxed about the exception, but when every other elf in the game essentially ignores it.... what they gonna do but start to come down on people?
