You should commemorate with a new sig.

I recommend a quotation from me.

I think the fact of the matter is that you can make yourself nearly immune to both melee and magic. With any sort of decent preparation not dieing to melee is easy as hell. Unless you go ahead and enchant your eq though, magic in my opinion, is a hell of a lot more dangerous with the massive list of instant kills that are out there.

Explain your thoughts on immune to melee, and how they are as persistent as being immune to magic please.

Wimping Melee damage in any way, shape, or form. Would alse be a MASSIVE wimp to Shamans. If melee gets wimped and it takes 10 rounds to kill everybody, what is the purpose of shamans going to be? If people would play shamans properly, they're one of the strongest classes in the game right now. But they are complete garbage at leveling.

All you need to do is stand in the 2nd row, flying, and if your not slow its nearly impossible to die to melee. The worst thing you have to deal with is getting charged which will only kill a few classes straight out and can easily be negated by going third row via easy to get items. I think all that's easily made up for by petrify/sleep/charm/summon/fod/magma/energy drain/bolt of glory/blind/deafness and the host of easy to get overpowered magical items. As a caster without good resists I have personally found myself a lot more afraid of fighting other casters than other warriors because of the whole list of insta kills. Having to deal with things like cancellation on my charmies, and dispel magic on my elementals is also rough, not to mention voodoo on classes with low hp pools talk about living in utter fear.

I have to admit, I don't see the need to wimp melee. If you want your spells to work, just make sure that they don't have a super-suit.

If there's any problem, then it's with the number of enchant-happy priests and sorcs out there today. I blame religion spells!

Lets disect your post.

All your post proves is that its easy to get away from melee, not beat it. Escaping casters is even easier though.

Also, all the spells you mentioned can be completely negated by enchants that anyone can get, also the overpowered items your speaking of are far more difficult to get than a full suit of addy that you just QQ'd about a few posts ago.

The only part of your post that I can't dispute is Voodoo. Riddle me this though batman, when was the last time you were voodoo'd?

Mmmkay, thats what I thought. Try harder.

I don't believe anything you said because you didn't use italics once in this post.

Also, how are you suppose to control what kind of suit your enemy has? The only way to get rid of the suit is to jloot them, and you can't do that if your spells aren't working...Chicken and the Egg man...

That's only because no shamans play this mud. And it doesn't help that Dulrik is planning on wimping them again (in this very thread!)

No, shamans benefit from wimping melee damage, since they're tanks and casters. They're poor melee damage dealers. I agree that making Veteran harder to reach with clerical classes is a bad thing. However, it shouldn't be overly hard to focus solutions on melee classes and/or high levels.

I think one place to look is the large advantage given to warrior-only weapons. Not that it's bad that warriors fight well, but giving so much of their power through level 1, passive skills isn't doing much for SK's tactics. This might also encourage a little more weapon variety.
