well, shouldn't -that- skill be something that you have to roll an attempt on, anyway? kinda like camo or hide or sneak?

i would imagine that [skill] takes a little practice and concentration. . . . and i don't think that rolling attempts would lessen the value of it at all.

Heres on thing that could be done.

Don't join a cabal. It's stupid. Theres always some bs war with someone, when you first join, your involved. You have no choice. Act and die, don' act and die, most of the RP is "OMG WTF WHO THE HELL WAS THAT!?!?!?!?!" Until you get used to it or don't, which determines whether or not you get called a noob and vet or whatever else labels their are for the SK life skill.

Oh, I think that's a little over the top. A lot depends on the leadership.

There are people here who enjoy lots of PK battles. Which is fine. SK is supposed to be a blend of PK and RP, after all. If your faction leader likes PK, or is trying to please faction members with that taste - you're going to see a lot of PK.

Faction interviews should not be a one way street. A faction may be reluctant to tell you its future plans. But between asking about its current goals and its past actions, you should get a pretty good idea whether it's something you ICly and OOCly want to be part of.

If you cant deny them the ability to learn the skills you can always warn them... Just tell them you would suggest they not learn it for thiere own safty.. If they listhen good if not then its thiere own choice... no need to auto off any cabal skill...

I have a feeling it's about people knowing who is who by the trace they leave, or in this case, a lack of one. It's not abuse at all. If you see someone WALK by, and not leave footprints or broken branches or anything behind, it's PRETTY freakin obvious that they're special in some way. And no, there's no rule against camping a hq, portal stones or anything else. People can camp where the hell they bloody want to. You saying otherwise is freakin faerie. Is it ICly impossible to know that certain skills are trademark of your cabal? No. Hell, I can personally attest to several people for knowing about some things, as well as who is in your cabal. If you don't want your lowbies getting ganked, order them to stay away from hq on pain of death/uninduction. Simple as that.

Everyone and their Mother can identity a Druid with that skill.

I personally find it ridiculous that you can't refuse to let allow new recruits to learn cabal spells/skills. What the hell is this?

Actually, I wouldn't have known, but do now. Needless to say, though, my characters who look for traces and find none won't jump to the conclusion of druid. Being careful of being followed, and curious how they did it, sure.

Omnn "urges" his new recruits not to learn the given skill and warns them against this. But I can't stop them.

But even for players who are known by some as a druid, it would be nice to be able to hide even Omnn's identity.

I support the idea of being able to 'suppress' passive cabal skills, but not to protect new recruits, because as someone mentioned, "you reap what you sow." It just makes sense that you could choose to stop doing something, plus it allows for more secrecy.

I was taught a lesson when I had my first real character, it was an imperial during the teron/empire war.
