I agree a better system, if possible, would have been nice for handing out masks. I also think enough suggestions were put forth for there to be a unique mask for each person. I guess the confusion surrounding who said what was kind of interesting, but in the end rather frustrating.

What would have been cool for the impersonations: if each person received and unique mask, have what mask would perform set before the ball. That way not everyone is spamming in order to try and get to do their performance. (Ie: the wolf mask, the death mask, the moon mask, the bunny mask will be performing! What a surprise!) Also, if someone goes over a minute on their imitation, yank them off the stage.

Oh, and at the end I think it would have been fun for everyone to reveal who they were. I'm still curious about a lot of people.

Other than that.. I thought it was pretty fun.

Also, saying "HAR HAR GO SOMEWHERE ELSE THEN" to whoever it was that complained about the huge queue was probably a bit counter productive. I thought the atmosphere was supposed to be enjoyable and welcoming.

I missed it :(

I could not prioritize this over a pen&paper session and [REDACTED] on my party as a DM. Still, I killed 2 of them today just out of spite for missing out on this.

The person complaining was acting pretty snooty (on purpose, I think, as that's their RP?). It seemed appropriate.

Yeah, I fireballed the room for it.

And then got bounced to hell. I guess you are not even trying to hide which character you are playing, not that we hadn't all guessed. Who else likes to skirt the boundaries of the rules in such a lawyer-like fashion?

There was no "immortal" at the door. There was a gentlemanly bouncer who was handing out masks. I should have been smart enough to make a mask of my own, because my normal disguise skill kept slipping. However, there was nothing to distinguish me from any other PC. I had a special adjective and description for the occasion and I don't believe I'd ever greeted anyone, so if you "knew" it was me, it was only OOC knowledege.

Just to reiterate, the god Dulrik was never at the party in any IC way. I was playing a completely different role. You've heard of roleplaying, right?

Also, there's no need to make stuff up. 'HAR HAR'? There was nothing of the sort. This is where you need to recognize that your poor attitude colors your reality. The exchange was more like:

Attendee: "This mask sucks. I want to attend the party in my own mask."
Gentlemanly bouncer: "You are certainly free to attend your own party."

As far as the wait goes, I apologize for having it take so long. This is something we'll try to improve on if we ever do this again. I ended up handing out around 45 masks and capes, each mask customized to request. This was more people than I actually expected to attend.

I thought having 16 unique masks was pretty good since the script wouldn't hold any more. Having them be completely customized would be pretty impossible. If you thought that wait was long, it would have been 4x longer without the hours I had worked on the masks beforehand.

Well, I got there early, so I was pretty lucky. If it would have taken too long to code any more masks then that, then oh well. Perhaps another time limit one type of mask to a certain race and sex? So that there is only one half-elf female wearing a bunny mask. :P

I honestly had no idea until all this forum drama tonight.
