Honestly, the pre-change cling was far better imo than the sever clings a tick version now.
When I played my little suicide lock, I know I killed several well geared people even after they had already fled from me just from a few magma ticks. The cling actually packed a punch back then.
Now a days 20+ MP completely negates any damage you suffer from the cling. Ghustaph had a completely unenchanted suit of mithril when he was attacked my some Warlock in Nerina, just the MP that he had on a few pieces of mithril was enough to fully resist every cling.
You could make two simple changes to make the class formidable again.
1. Remove cling entirely, that way every hit of magma counts as an initial hit, and does the full damage. Who cares about the cling, SK is all about front-loading damage.
2. Make resist elements unbrewable. Warlock only perk for fighting other warlocks. This in effect makes people HAVE to enchant there gear to go toe to toe with a warlock, and without the cling effect negating all consective magma sprays after the first, even with a full suit of MP, each magma will still do substantial damage, enough to be getting along with.
It's such a simple fix.
