Take the forgetting things out all together.

Like I said, I'm pretty sure this is where the pfile size part of the problem comes into play. If there's greet info stored in the pfile, and there must be, then an age-deathing elf could have one massive list of greeted people associated with their pfile, many if not most of which wouldn't even exist anymore. The forgetting thing makes that sort of a non-issue, since it automatically cleans up the list every now and then.

So. Greet your friends. Like its a social? I don't see why that's a bad idea.

I thought it was odd how everyone greeted me so quickly as soon as it happened but I shrugged it off. I don't know a lot of people in the game as of yet so it is easy for me to remember who I do know. And from what I've seen so far the adjectives are different enough from one another that I could probably tell who is who after a time by that and how they act. I really don't understand what the grief is about if you forget their name, you can look at them and remember, right?

Some of the grief comes from some age-dead characters who developed lasting friendships with other characters who now cannot manifest to them for rp because the names got shunted out and, for one reason or another, were never refreshed.

Remembering who someone is OOC'ly while your char IC'ly doesn't remember is kinda wrong, no?
RP'ing a greet everytime you forget someone close to your character gets trivial.

I can understand how some people would think it is ooc for my character not to remember someone since it is coded in BUT I just can't see myself rp'ing that I am so dense I'd forget the names of the only few people I know. I am not sure about a lot of the roleplaying etiquette here. The manifest would concern me more, if I understand the help file correctly, forgetting someone would deter rp'ing in that avenue.

Heh, I turned that off as SOON as I read the help file for it, I knew I didn't want to be introducing just for the sake of introducing. (I had issues with that in another rp mud) I am used to LP coding so the whole feel of things are a bit off for me, although it is getting easier and I appreciate the patience of players that are helping a noob.
