That's a matter of perspective - when I was playing my paladin of order, I stuck about as closely to the letters of the vows as you are. Arandur didn't not lie because of dulrik, he didn't lie because it'd offend Ain if he broke the letter of the vow of honor.

However, when I bolt of glory-owned some shaman (newb alert) at the judge in ayamao, I didn't go tell everyone "yeah, I thought he was an evil priest, so I bog'd him". I made up some great story on the spot about needing to get the judge involved to get him out of the city (true, from my char's point of view) that basically left Arandur intact rp-wise as still being a paragon of virtue and intelligence.

What you know is true as a player does not in any way have to equate to what your char knows or what has happened to him.

But really I just wanted to tell that story I think the guy's name was Kejah and I've felt guilty about it since, I don't honestly even know if he was a bad guy or not.

If it was Kerah then it was a crucible leader who I -think- was diabolic. He was a helf shaman. Actually he might still be alive.

I had the same problem when I played Shenji(also a dulrik paladin.) Snuffles disappeared on me, as Aradan was my knight mentor, so naturally I just said that he had knighted me before he went away. Truth pally lying, oh noes!

I voted to get an immortal. I'm sorry, but think about the IC effects. Any hellion/darkie/person outside the Hammer would laugh at you publicly knighting yourself. And how cool would it be to say you were knighted through the power of the gods?

As someone who had a human hellion to pretty much age death, it does suck. But I would be knighted by an IMM. Especially since the waiting to be knighted would be a trail of patience all its own. (God that sounds cheesy)

Still, definitely should have someone oversee being knighted. Good RP can come from being knighted by an IMM

Slayne knighted himself and then dared anyone to say otherwise. One guy in our church actually had the balls to say that I wasn't a knight just because I said I was. Boy did he eat a cleave.

It's a better approach in my opinion. I did the whole "wait for someone else to do it" with my paladin kythtyr and decided I would never do that again.

I feel a lot more comfortable knighting myself as a hellion. But yeah I think it's ultimately up to you, unless you had already established a deal with your church (i.e Sir whatshisname will be your mentor etc.). It's rough if your mentor is inactive though.
